FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (3-30-17)

FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (3-30-17)

This is our last winter bulletin of the season. The Toledo office is staffed daily; the Flat Rock office will open April 11.

I-75 Construction: I-75 Southbound from the Rouge River Bridge to Northline Road will be closed for the next 2 years starting in February! Northbound traffic will be open. Make alternate plans for your best route to Flat Rock and Toledo!

Tires/Fuel: Tires will not be available until the practice day at Flat Rock, April 15. There will be no tires at the ARCA office or Toledo before that date. **We will limit teams up to 2 sets of tires on practice day; when the day is over, you may purchase additional tires. LM tires are $140 each (up $2 each); 880’s are $115 each (up $2 each). This is the increase from Hoosier. Fuel: Due to the market, we won’t know price until first deliveries are received.

Used Tires: We will once again take used tires (must hold air!) at Flat Rock—LATE MODEL TIRES ONLY. Do not put any tires in the trailer until you see an official. We are still searching for a way to take the 880’s…stay tuned.

Flat Rock practice day: Saturday, April 15, pits open at 9, practice is 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. All cars must have at least a safety inspection before going on-track. Rain date is Sunday, April 23.

Toledo practice day: Tuesday, May 16. Pits open at 3:30, practice is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. All cars must have at least a safety inspection before going on-track. Rain date is Wednesday, May 17.

Toledo will add another 10 foam blocks inside the ½ mile wall. We expect them to arrive next week.

The April 22 time schedule for Toledo’s Spring 200 has been posted in the next race box on the track’s home page (left side).

Late Model Gold Cup: First Super 6 Gold Cup Late Model race is April 22. Through the support of 6 sponsors, each of the 6 Gold Cup races will see a $2000 boost per race in the purse. The sponsors are: Royal Truck and Trailer, Moran Chevrolet, DTS Drive Train Specialists, Dani’s Transport, Diamond Racing Products and Tim Hortons-Guy Pritchard Investments. The point system will be used, and a champion crowned. There will be no point fund. The point system is in place for the provisional starting spots for the Glass City race. The Gold Cup entry blank has been mailed and is posted under forms on each track’s web page! GET YOUR ENTRIES IN—PARKING MAY BE TIGHT…NO PRE-ENTRY, no guarantee of a parking pad (Or at least the one you prefer).

BANDOLERO DIVISION AT FLAT ROCK IN 2018: The announcement was made last week that Flat Rock will schedule eight (8) Bandolero races in 2018. These cars are for youth ages 8-14. We are teaming with Spartan Speedway to get this project moving. We will have a tab on the webpage after May 1 with information. In the meantime, go to www.spartanspeedway.com to check things out! We will have a car on display for most of the 2017 season at the track. You can also call us at 734-782-2480 for details..

The 2017 “Mystery Award for the Flat Rock Late Models is back; in 2017, the “Dented Fender Racing Mystery Award” works like this; the award is available for each of the 11 shows for the ARCA Late Models at Flat Rock. For 2017, the fast qualifier is the man with the opportunity to grab the bonus. If the fast qualifier wins the feature, the driver collects the $100 bonus; if there is no winner, the $100 rolls over to the next race, i.e. $200, giving the fast qualifier of that night a shot at the award.

If there is a rainout, that $100 goes to the next event. Any bonus money that is not paid out by Championship night will go to the feature winner of that race (who may not be the fast qualifier on this night only). All $1100 will be paid out.

And, since the Season Championship for 2016 fell victim to rain, that $100 bonus that was available will be added to the April 29 opener, which starts the bonus at $200 for the first race of the season.

Flat Rock pad rentals: The form is posted on the track webpage under forms. We still have some pads available—

Toledo Figure 8 Train Races: entry will be posted on the web page in next few days.

Championship rain dates: The decision has been made to have ONE rain date for each “weekly” division championship night. If that also rains out, the point races are over. Flat Rock’s Late Model and Figure 8 championships are August 19; rain date is Aug. 26; The Street Stock Championship is Aug. 26; rain date is September 9. . More details will follow. Toledo’s Late Model Sportsman and Factory Stock champ nights are August 25; rain date is Sept. 1. All the information is included on the schedule.

The 2017 membership forms are now up on the web pages and can be found under forms. There is no increase in membership fees.

Pocket schedules are now available. You can pick them up at the tracks.

Pepsi products and Gatorade will now be featured at our concession stands…and look for a bbq beef sandwich added to the menu also!
