TOLEDO, Ohio (March 27, 2017) -- Two ARCA late model stars took advantage of a warm, beautiful afternoon at Toledo Speedway recently to get ready for the 2017 racing season, just around the corner. Specifically, for the Spring 200 season opener coming to Toledo Saturday afternoon, April 22 featuring a double-header with the ARCA CRA Super Series 100-lap main event and the ARCA-sanctioned Outlaw Super Late Model warriors, also going 100 laps around the super-fast banked half-mile.
Brian Campbell tested two ARCA CRA cars in prep for the season opener while defending winner Steve Needles wound up his newly-rebuilt Outlaw car. Campbell's father and local legend Fred Campbell (10-time Berlin Outlaw champ and ARCA Racing Series winner) joined his son for testing.
"Have you officially hung up your helmet?" we asked Fred.
"Absolutely not," answered the elder statesman. "Never say never. I can't say that I'll ever drive again, but we're going to leave it open for now. I'm certainly not committing myself to retirement."
