FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (2-27-17)

FLAT ROCK-TOLEDO SPEEDWAY BULLETIN (2-27-17)

This is our third winter bulletin of the season. The final bulletin will be posted at the end of March. The winter office for both tracks is at Toledo: 419-727-1100.

I-75 Construction: I-75 Southbound from the Rouge River Bridge to Northline Road will be closed for the next 2 years starting in February! Northbound traffic will be open. Make alternate plans for your best route to Flat Rock and Toledo!

Flat Rock schedule changes: Just a couple of small ones; the Figure 8’s have been added to the June 10 show; the TKC Go-Karts will move from May 20 to May 13 for their exhibition race with us.

Car Numbers: If you need a new number for any class, contact the office. We work with everyone on the number deal. **Please remember---contrasting colors…light doors, dark number. Dark doors, light number! No reflective numbers, please. 2 digit numbers—leave some space between them…thanks for the help with this item!

Sponsorship announcements: Moran Chevrolet (FR Late Models), Victory Lane Oil Change (Figure 8’s), DTS Drive Train Specialists (FR Street Stocks), Monroe News (Enduro) and R & M Recycling (Late Model Sportsman Silver Cup) all return for 2017! Look for an announcement regarding the Late Model Sportsman division sponsor very soon.

Late Model Gold Cup: As announced last week, the Gold Cup concept will change for 2017. Through the support of 6 sponsors, each of the 6 Gold Cup races will see a $2000 boost per race in the purse. The sponsors are: Royal Truck and Trailer, Moran Chevrolet, DTS Drive Train Specialists, Dani’s Transport, Diamond Racing Products and former Late Model racer Guy Pritchard. The point system will be used, and a champion crowned. There will be no point fund. The point system is in place for the provisional starting spots for the Glass City race. You can read the complete releases on each of these sponsorships on the track’s web pages. The Gold Cup entry blank will be available March 10 and posted on the web pages.

The 2017 “Mystery Award for the Flat Rock Late Models is back; in 2017, the “Dented Fender Racing Mystery Award” works like this; the award is available for each of the 11 shows for the ARCA Late Models at Flat Rock. For 2017, the fast qualifier is the man with the opportunity to grab the bonus. If the fast qualifier wins the feature, the driver collects the $100 bonus; if there is no winner, the $100 rolls over to the next race, i.e. $200, giving the fast qualifier of that night a shot at the award.

If there is a rainout, that $100 goes to the next event. Any bonus money that is not paid out by Championship night will go to the feature winner of that race (who may not be the fast qualifier on this night only). All $1100 will be paid out.

And, since the Season Championship for 2016 fell victim to rain, that $100 bonus that was available will be added to the April 29 opener, which starts the bonus at $200 for the first race of the season.

Fastime Racing Engines and Parts also returns with their award program for the Figure 8’s and Street Stocks….details will be announced very soon! Five Star RaceCar Bodies has also renewed their contingency program for both the Late Model Sportsman and Street Stock divisions.
