Toledo Speedway

(Toledo, OH—September 16, 2014):  ARCA Discount Tire Gold Cup Series champion Dakota Carlson will look for his 3^rd win of the season at Toledo Speedway as he goes for the gold in the Great Lakes Helicopter Glass City 200 at Toledo Speedway this Saturday, September 20.  George Rangel, Dennis Rederstorf and Brad Riethmeyer’s entries have also arrived, moving the current pre-entry list to 30 cars for the event.

Carlson, notching his second Gold Cup title in 2014, won the first 2 events at Toledo this season in the Gold Cup 100 lap contests.  The Cedar Springs, MI driver was looking for the sweep in August, but got caught up in an incident which saw the #8 get into the foam blocks and wall in turn 3, causing heavy damage to his machine.  The team has repaired the car and Dakota will be seeking his first-ever Glass City 200 win Saturday night.

Rangel and Rederstorf will be making their first starts of 2014 at the Glass City oval in Late Model competition.  Riethmeyer, who resides in Mooresville, NC, will be making his initial appearance at the event.  Brad finished second in the June event at Toledo.

The 40 lap Cassens Transport Sportsman invitational will utilize a unique qualifying procedure for this weekend, featuring a format similar to the style now used in NASCAR.  The Sportsman cars will stage on pit road and be given 30 minutes to record lap times.  A driver may go out for as many laps at speed as he desires during the session.

Race fans have the opportunity to save $5 on advance ticket purchases by calling the track at 419-727-1100.  The advance sale will end at 5 p.m. Friday, September 19.

The 200 lap classic for the outlaw-bodied Late Models is the longest race of the year and the track’s signature event.  The race will award $6500 to the winner, with $1100 posted to start the race.  With bonus money and special awards, a driver could walk away with over $9000 in cash and prizes!

Friday, September 19 the pit gates will open at 2 p.m.  An optional practice session for both classes will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The grandstands will be open for spectators at no charge for the practice.  Rig parking, pit pass sales, limited tech and tire sales will take place on Friday.  All pit pass purchasers on Friday will receive a complimentary dinner after practice at the Speedway Bar and Grille, courtesy of Francis Engineering.  The ARCA Racing Series event from Kentucky Speedway and the 2013 Glass City 200 will be shown at the Speedway Bar and Grille Friday night.

Race day, Saturday, September 20 has the pit gates opening at 9:30 a.m., practice begins at Noon, the run for the PASSTIME $500 pole award goes at 3 and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m.  A rain date of Sunday, September 21 has been established if needed.
