Toledo Speedway Lighting Upgrade Planned

TOLEDO OH (1-14-08)--Toledo Speedway's .5-mile paved oval is slated for a lighting upgrade to the Qualite Sports-Lighting Systems, Inc. set-up at the track, which has been in place since the start of the 2006 season. Track management entered into an agreement with Qualite as a test program for the super-speedway style lighting system in turns 1 and 2, the backstretch and turns 3 and 4 just 2 years ago. Qualite officials are now prepared to install an upgrade to the system as they look to improve this part of their product line.

"We have been in constant contact with Qualite since the installation of the new lighting system in May of 2006," noted Scott Schultz, General Manager of the track. "We knew going into this project that this type of system was new for Qualite, and that they were looking to enhance their product. Ron and Roy (track owners Ron Drager and Roy Mott) agreed to become a test facility for their new style of lights that we have at Toledo, knowing there could very well be improvements down the road."

Track management met with Qualite officials in early December to look at the new fixture that will be installed in the spring. Each unit will be larger in size and will expand the light thrown by each of the fixtures, making for an improved lighting package.

Jeff Hammel, Vice President of Research and Development for Qualite, is enthused about the new fixtures and application at Toledo. "The new fixtures will provide a more uniform lighting pattern at Toledo Speedway. We are looking forward to making the changes as soon as the weather breaks this spring."

"The new Qualite system we installed in 2006 was an incredible improvement to Toledo Speedway," stated Ron Drager, co-owner of the track. "Based on what we have seen with the new and improved fixture, we are very pleased with the progress Qualite has made with these style of lights."

Qualite will also continue in the capacity as a race night sponsor as part of the 2008 schedule of events.
