Three-Time King Sauve, Top Threat Kuhlman Ink Glass City 200 Entries

TOLEDO OH (9-12-07)--3-time race winner Steve Sauve will shoot for an unprecedented 4th victory in the Saturday, September 22 Miller Lite Glass City 200 presented by National City Bank and Allegiant Air at Toledo Speedway. The Saginaw, MI native made history by winning 3 Glass City events in a row in 2002, 2003 and 2004. The only other driver to win 3 of these crowns is the legendary short-track ace Bob Senneker, who took the Glass City 200 titles in 1970, 1971 and 1977.

Howell, MI driver Dave Kuhlman, always at threat to win at Toledo, has also filed his entry for the fall classic event at the ¨? mile paved oval. The 200 championship has eluded the 2-time Toledo and 4-time Flat Rock Speedway champ. Dave was leading last year's event and got caught up in an accident, eliminating him from competition. Kuhlman also was on the point in the 2005 race and was sidelined early in the race by mechanical woes. Dave was the dominant force at Toledo in the former Iceman days at the Glass City oval and still has to be considered a threat to win his first-ever Glass City 200.

Entries have also been received from rookies Bill Litogot III, Tod Sturgeon Jr. and Bobby Cruze. Litogot is just beginning his Late Model career, moving up from the ARCA 4 Cylinder ranks. He has competed in the past few weeks in Bob Ward's car at both Flat Rock and Toledo. Sturgeon competed at Flat Rock in his rookie year in 2007, while Cruze is another local rookie driver. 2004 Flat Rock champ Eric Lee will pilot Jack Burnette's number 86 for the 200 September 22.

These latest 6 drivers join Jack Landis, Joe Bush, John Doering Jr., Justin Schroeder, Scott Giroux, Mike Luberda Jr., Paul Pelletier, Mike Jaynes, Joe Hawes, AJ Lane, Brent Jack, Jake Francis, Steve Cronenwett Jr., Ron Allen, Roger Blackstock and Dennis Strickland, bringing the entry number to 22 as of September 11.

A cash purse of over $70,000 has been posted, with $7000 going to the winner, as well as cash bonuses and contingency awards also at stake. The 200 lap contest pays $1000 to start the event in the 31 car field.

The speedway is inviting back all former winners of the Glass City 200 for the 2007 edition of the event. They include 1968 winner Joy Fair, 1970, 71, and 77 champ Bob Senneker, Danny Byrd-1972; Joe Ruttman, 1969 and 1973; Jim Bickerstaff, 1975; Ed Cooper, 1976; Tim Felver, 1999; Tim Ice, 2000; Jr. Hanley, 2001; Steve Sauve, 2002, 03, 04; Doering Jr., 2005 and Landis, 2007. Felver, Ice, Sauve, Doering and Landis obviously remain as active drivers. 1974 winner John Anderson lost his life in an auto accident years ago.

Race fans have 2 chances to walk away with some very special prizes at the 200 September 22. $500 in cash will be awarded to a lucky race fan in the Wynn's/LV Enterprises Half-Way Challenge. The leader of lap 100 will draw out a name during the mid-race break. And 2 round-trip tickets from Toledo to St. Pete, FL, courtesy of Allegiant Air.
