Countdown to the Glass City; ARCA Late Model Champs Among Most Recent Entrants

TOLEDO OH (9-5-07)--Three-time Toledo champion and recently-crowned Flat Rock Speedway champ Dennis Strickland, 2006 Flat Rock king Paul Pelletier and 2004 Toledo titlist Joe Hawes are now entered for the 19th running of the Miller Lite Glass City 200 Late Model invitational, presented by National City Bank and Allegiant Air, set for Saturday, September 22 at Toledo Speedway. 2006 Flat Rock rookie of the Year Justin Schroeder has also filed his entry for the prestigious event. A cash purse of over $70,000 has been posted, with $7000 going to the winner, as well as cash bonuses and contingency awards also at stake. strickland.jpgStrickland's new Flat Rock title is his first at the .25-mile paved oval. The Carleton, Michigan, resident won the Toledo championships in 1999, 2001 and 2005 and was very impressive in the final tune-up at the.5-mile paved oval last Sunday, finishing second and right on the bumper of the red-hot Harold Fair Jr.

Trenton, Michigan, native Paul Pelletier had a solid showing also last Sunday, coming homefourth in the 50-lap contest. Hawes also had a solid Labor Day weekend at both tracks, notching his best finishes of the season at Flat Rock Saturday night and Sunday at Toledo with a pair ofseventh place finishes. In addition to his Toledo crown,Hawes also captured the 1991 Flat Rock Late Model belt. Schroeder grabbed the fast heat win Sunday night at Toledo and finished in a tie for thefifth spot in the four-race Gold Cup Series held at the track this year.

Saturday's schedule has the pits opening at 9 a.m., with practice at Noon, time trials at 3 and racing at 5 p.m. A rain date of Sunday, September 23 has been established, with a 1 p.m. start time if needed.

The track will offer a $5 discount to all Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Members and Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club members for Saturday's event by showing their card at the ticket window. The track will also admit all Scouts in uniform FREE to the biggest race of the season at the .5-mile paved oval.

Saturday's race card will include practice, time trials, last-chance races, the 25-lap B Main and the Miller Lite Glass City 200 lap race, plus a last-chance race and 40 lap ARCA National City Bank Sportsman feature, along with a 25 lap ARCA A-1 Auto Parts Factory Stock main event.

Reserved seats are now on sale for the race by calling the track at 419-727-1100. Cash, VISA and Mastercard will be accepted for advance ticket orders only.
