TOLEDO 7-UP 150 FOR ARCA/CRA, ARCA MIDWEST TOUR LATE MODELS APRIL 12

TOLEDO 7-UP 150 FOR ARCA/CRA, ARCA MIDWEST TOUR LATE MODELS APRIL 12

(TOLEDO, Ohio - March 18, 2014) - Toledo Speedway swings open its gates for the season-opening 7-Up 150 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s and ARCA Midwest Tour presented by Scag Power Equipment Late Models Saturday, April 12.

The first group of entries have arrived and include Cody Coughlin of Delaware, OH, the 2013 Jeg’s/CRA All Star Tour champion.  Donnie Wilson (Oklahoma City, OK), Brett Robinson (New Albany, IN), Brandon Hermiller (Walker, MI), Eddie Hoffman (Wheaton, IL), Chris Eggleston (Thorton, CO), Rick Turner (Yorktown, IN), Ali Kern (Fremont, OH), Chad Finley (DeWitt, MI), former Toledo CRA winner/Glass City 200 winner Brian Campbell (Wyoming, MI), Brandon Oakley (Dayton, OH), Cardell Porter (Camp Douglas, WI), Joel Theisen (Maple Grove, MN) and Ty Majeski (Seymour, IN) are also entered for a total of 14 cars at this early date.

Although he is not officially entered, 2013 Flat Rock Late Model champ and defending Glass City 200 Outlaw Late Model winner Dennis Strickland has indicated will be in competition in the 7-Up 150.  Dennis will be driving the Nick Bailey car #01.

The 2013 event was the very first time these 2 touring Series combined forces as one for the 150 lap contest.  Johnny VanDoorn of Coopersville, MI was the winner.  The Glass City oval will hold an open practice session Friday afternoon, April 11 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., with more practice, qualifying and the 150 lap race set for Saturday, April 12 at 3 p.m.

Last year’s event saw a great field of 43 cars on hand at the track for the chilly opener, and with some help from Mother Nature, Toledo should be good to go April 12.  The event was a great accomplishment for the 2 sanctioning bodies under the ARCA banner, and the 2014 edition of the 7-Up 150 is expected to be another top-notch race.   The second combination race for CRA and the Midwest Tour will be at the Illiana, IN Speedway Monday, Memorial Day, May 26.

The 7-Up 150 will also be taped by the Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) for showing on the “Sunday Night at the Races” show at 9 p.m. on the local cable access channel Sunday, April 13.  The race can also be purchased through BCSN’s video-on-demand programming at bcsn.tv/vod.html.

SPEED51.com will also provide trackside coverage live for the 7-Up 150.

The schedule calls for an optional practice Friday afternoon from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The pit area will open at 11 a.m.  A dinner will be served to all those who purchase pit passes on Friday at the Speedway Bar and Grille, located adjacent to Toledo Speedway.  Additional dinners for non-pit pass purchasers will be available for $10 per plate.

Saturday’s schedule has the pit area opening at 8 a.m., practice from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., qualifying at 1 p.m., with the last-chance race (if necessary) set for 3 p.m.  The on-track autograph session, driver introductions and the 7-Up 150 lap main event will follow.  The race will include a lap 76 break and will be all-green flag.  A rain date of Sunday, April 13 at 1 p.m. has been established if needed.

Race fans can save $5 per ticket if purchased prior to race day.  All tickets for this event are general admission seating.  Tickets may be purchased by calling the track at 419-727-1100 or by downloading the ticket order form at www.toledospeedway.com, which is located under tickets.  The form can filled out and sent electronically to the track.

For fans and race teams looking for hotel accommodations, contact the Hampton Inn (419-727-8725) or the Holiday Inn Express (419-574-0292).  Both hotels are just ¼ mile from the speedway.
