Toledo Speedway

This is our 3RD bulletin of the off-season.  We’ll do one each month through March of 2014.  The schedules are posted on the web pages.  The winter office for both tracks is at Toledo; 419-727-1100.  The bulletins will be posted on the website and sent to our email list; if you are not on the email list, call us at 419-727-1100 or email cwagner@arcaracing.com and we will add your name!   

TIRE SEMINAR DATE CHANGE!:  IS NOW Saturday, March 8; Irish Saunders of Hoosier Tire will be at the Toledo Speedway Bar and Grille to provide information and answer questions for all of our teams.  Noon to 3 p.m.  Admission is free; we will set up some kind of lunch special for this day…we’ll also do membership registration, pad rentals, ticket sales, etc…..Plan to attend!

TAX INFORMATION:  You will be receiving a 1099 in the mail soon.  Call the ARCA office if you have a correction.  **This season, EVERY driver will be required to fill out a W-9 form before the first race.  We will have these at the Tire Seminar and at the track.  The form is also posted under forms on the website.

CAR NUMBERS:  We work with everyone—we will hold your number for first few weeks of the season.  IF you are switching divisions or are new, call us at Toledo so we can assign a number for you.

CONCRETE PAD RENTALS:  Will be due by April 10 for both tracks (same price).  There is a late fee.  We will post the forms on the website under forms by February 7.   These will NOT be mailed out.  If you would like to rent a pad, call us to add your name to the list.

We would like to extend our thoughts and prayers to Josh and Matt Bunting on the loss of their father, JR Bunting, and to Gary Lindahl on the loss of his daughter, Kelley Lindahl, and Norm Lewallen Racing for the loss of their two crew members.

Late Model Gold Cup dates:  The Gold Cup Series will not be returning to Spartan for this season;  Here are the 5 dates:  Flat Rock:  May 24 (Joy Fair Memorial 100-raindate Sun. May 25 (holiday weekend); July 26 (Stan Yee Memorial 150-raindate Aug. 2); Toledo:  Fridays June 6, July 11, Aug. 15;  **We will be adding a B Main for the 2 Flat Rock dates; we will still run the last-chances, then add the B Main (number of cars at the track will determine if B Main is run).  More on this later

Membership forms are now available and can be downloaded from the ARCA website.  They will not be mailed.  If you need us to mail them, call us.  The membership cost is the same as last year.  *Enduro drivers will be required to be ARCA members in 2014. 

RACER’S REUNION date is Saturday, March 15 at Speedway Bar and Grille.  It will be followed by the March meeting for the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club.  Start times for the Reunion and the MARFC meeting will be announced.

The rules updates for each class were posted and sent out at the beginning of November. The 4 Cylinder class will not return in 2014, but the cars are eligible to run the Enduro, X Cars and the “fun” races.

Toledo’s first race is Saturday, April 12, with a 150 lap race for the ARCA/CRA Super Series/ARCA Midwest Tour Late Models.  An open practice is set for Friday, April 11.  Any car may take part in the practice day on Friday.  Open practice will also take place Sunday, April 27.  The first

Friday night show is May 9.

Flat Rock will open Saturday, April 26.  *There is only 1 pre-season practice this season.  Pre-season practice is Saturday, April 19; NOTE THE TIME CHANGE:  11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Tech will stay open until 5:30 that day.  The practice rain date is Wednesday, April 23, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The Glass City 200 date has been moved up a week to Saturday, September 20.

The 2014 Awards Night is set for Saturday, October 18 at the Toledo Speedway Bar and Grille.  We are still in the process of working out all the details of the night.  Around 300 attended the 2013 event.

Other special dates:  Toledo:  The X Cars will run Twin 25 lap features Friday, June 20; Fastest Short Track Show in World is Friday, June 13, with AVBBSS Winged Sprints and MSA Super Modifieds; Toledo show the week of the 4^th of July will be the Winged Sprint Car Spectacular, and will be run either Wednesday, July 2; the 2 school bus dates are May 23 and August 29.

Flat Rock:  Triple 50’s and Fireworks show is Saturday, July 12; the Figure 8’s (30 laps) and the Street Stocks (40 laps) will run these specials May 10 and August 23; The four Enduro dates are May 17, July 5, August 2 and September 13.  The Sportsman cars will be at Flat Rock July 5 and August 9.  The ARCA/CRA Super Series returns to Flat Rock August 16.  The 2 school bus dates are June 13 and September 6.

Racer’s Swap Meet:  will be moved to Flat Rock Speedway for 2014.  The date is Saturday, October 25, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  More information later.

Pre-season stuff:  The tracks will have a booth at the annual Bedford Business Association Trade Fair March 15-16, and we will also be at a new show--the Motor City Hot Rod and Racing Expo at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi March 22-23.

Flat Rock-Toledo Annual Press Conference:  For the first time, our annual Press Conference will be open to everyone!  It will be held Tuesday, March 25 at the Hollywood Casino in Toledo, about 10 minutes south of the track off of I-75.  The event begins at 1 p.m.  We will have a special guest or 2 and the local media gives us great coverage.   Yep, it’s during the day, but if you have time, join us at the Casino!
