Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways Champions Honored at Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club Banquet

(TOLEDO, Ohio – January 24, 2014) – The 2013 Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways champions were honored at the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club banquet in Warren, MI on Saturday, January 18.

The 2013 Toledo Speedway champions on hand were: Jim Froling, Dennis Whisman and Tom O’Leary IV (see photo).

News and Notes for the MARFC Banquet:

1. Grant Hedges bought Danny Slater’s ARCA Late Model and plans to run for Rookie of the Year at Flat Rock in 2014.

2. David Katafiasz will move from the 4-Cylinder class to ARCA Figure-8 division in 2014.

3. Greg Studt will defend his 2013 Flat Rock ARCA Figure-8 title in ’14 and will race in the Toledo Speedway X Car division as well.

4. Tom O’Leary IV, who had his Toledo Speedway X Car championship car on display at the MARFC Banquet, plans to defend his Toledo X Car title and also compete weekly in the ARCA Sportsman division at Toledo.

5. Frank Loving plans to get back in a race car so that he can run in a race with his son Robbie and grandson Race. It would be only the 2nd time in ARCA history that 3 generations competed in the same race, coming after Tom O’Leary II, Tom O’Leary III and Tom O’Leary IV raced in an ARCA Sportsman race at Toledo Speedway 2 years ago.

6. Toledo Speedway ARCA Figure-8 champion Dennis Whisman recently celebrated his 50th birthday, and seated at his table at the banquet were two former MARFC Mechanic of the Year award winners, Richie Lee and Joe Whisman.
