MOORE-LUTTERMOSER-LOVING-QUINLEN-KATAFIASZ NOTCH FLAT ROCK WINS

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 24, 2013) - The best weather of the 2013 racing season brought out another good crowd to Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night for the Leppen Chiropractic/Action Exteriors/UAW Local 3000 Autograph and Kids Night.  Fans walked out onto the track to meet the drivers under brilliant sunshine and blue skies.

Kids to age 14 were admitted free and received a free hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Jim’s Butcher Shop, Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group, Herr’s Potato Chips and Schwebel Baking Company.

Feature winners visited the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle and were greeted by Dan Leppen, representing Leppen Chiropractic, a long-time sponsor of the track.  Rob Moore, Jeff Luttermoser, Robbie Loving Grant Quinlen and David Katafiasz took the main event victories.

Make it win number 3 of the season for Rob Moore, as he withstood all challengers to win the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main.  Moore led every lap, but had pressure early on from Landon Schuster and Corey Duane.  Schuster was strong and getting ready to challenge for the lead, only to encounter engine trouble, ending his night.  Duane stayed right with Moore but Rob was not to be denied in chalking up the win.  Rookie Duane was second, point leader Grant Hedges third, Kyle Worley fourth and Tadek Stadniczuk fifth, followed by Clyde McKee, Scott Selmi, Chris Fitzpatrick, rookie Guy Fire and Craig Lange.

8-24_ss_b_main.jpgJeff Luttermoser scored the win in the 15 lap B Main over Rick Bennett, Rich Abel, Larry Smouthers, Wilburn Parks, Don Roberts and James Pankow.  It was Jeff’s first win of the season.  Stadniczuk, Rich Frantz, Darrell Krause and Rick Bennett took the heat wins.  Hedges set the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts fast time for the 30 car field at 13:642.  Luttermoser led the B field at 14:246.

8-24_legends_winner.jpg14 year-old Grant Quinlen has taken a liking to Flat Rock as the Canadian resident made it 2 for 2, grabbing the checkered flag in the 25 lap Michigan Legends feature event.  Grant won the first race at Flat Rock July 20, and the win was his 7th of the season for the Series.  Early leader Cole Landau took second, Levi Rouster returned to Series and took third, Matt Todd was fourth and Tony Monge grabbed fifth after having mechanical problems during practice.  Ben Rouster, Greg Rudzik, Mike Occhipinti and Josh Indig completed the finishing order.  Todd set fast time at 13:706, while Landau was the heat race winner.

8-24_4_cyl.jpgToledo resident David Katafiasz battled David Price to the wire, as the duo went door to door all the way to the checkered flag, with Katafiasz just nosing out Price for the victory in the 20 lap ARCA 4 Cylinder feature race.  Kyle Worley, Eric Fitzpatrick and Chaz Blackstock completed the field finishing order.  Price set fast time at 14:916.
