LATE MODEL DOUBLE-HEADER WEEKEND, 2 CUP DRIVERS TO SIGN AUTOGRAPHS AT TOLEDO, FLAT ROCK

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 14, 2013) - A big weekend of racing is in the works as both Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways will host Late Model racing and a pair of NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers will sign autographs.  Talladega 500 winner David Ragan will be at Toledo Friday night, August 16, while David Stremme will greet fans Saturday, August 17 at Flat Rock.

Race fans will see the some of the top Late Model drivers in the area as the ARCA Glass City Gold Cup Series and the Main Event Late Model Series will combine forces to compete in the Miller Lite 100 Friday night at Toledo.  A field of 25-30 of the outlaw-bodied cars is expected for the contest, which will serve as the final point race of the year for the Gold Cup Series, while the Main Event has several more events on their current schedule for the year.

NASCAR Talladega 500 race winner David Ragan will visit with fans and sign autographs at Toledo Friday night.  Ragan is in the area for Sunday’s NASCAR event at Michigan International Speedway.  The free meet and greet with David will be held approximately from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Defending Gold Cup champ Dakota Carlson leads Scott Hantz and Harold Fair Jr. by a mere 5 points going into the 5th and final race of the series, which includes 2 events at Flat Rock, 2 at Toledo and 1 race at the Spartan, MI Speedway.

Current Main Event Late Model Series point leader Bud Perry leads the contingent from the Sandusky, OH-based group.  Jeff Ganus, Drew Charlson and Marcus Malcuit are also expected.  A field of 25-30 cars is expected for the Miller Lite 100.

Toledo’s Parts Galore Figure 8’s and the R & M Recycling X Cars will compete in their Season Championship races also this Friday night.  The pit area opens at 2 p.m., practice will begin at 4:30, time trials are set for 6:30 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The front gates will open at 4:30 p.m.

The Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) will tape Friday night’s Miller Lite 100, while SPEED51.com will be at both tracks Friday and Saturday with live updates.

The 2nd annual 7-Up 125 hits the track at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night, August 17.  NASCAR driver David Stremme will be on hand to greet fans from approximately 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.  On the track, the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by Jeg’s stock-bodied Late Models will battle in the 125 lap main event on the fast ¼ mile asphalt oval. 

Defending race winner Scott Hantz is entered.  Phil Bozell, the winner of last Saturday night’s Joy Fair-Stan Yee Memorial 150 at Flat Rock for the outlaw Late Models, has also filed his entry for the event.  Current Series point leader Travis Braden, Kenny Tweedy, Rick Turner, Jay Niewick, female driving star Ali Kern and current Jeg’s/CRA All-Stars point leader Cody Coughlin have also sent in their entries.  4-time Flat Rock Late Model champion Eric Lee and local drivers Paul Hahn and Matt Hall are also entered.

Flat Rock’s Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks will also be in action this Saturday with full race cards.

The pit area opens at 12:30 for CRA and 2:30 for Flat Rock teams.  Practice begins at 3, the front gates open at 3, time trials are at 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
