MOORE-METDEPENNINGEN-PRICE NOTCH FLAT ROCK WINS

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - August 3, 2013) - Sunshine and clear skies finally returned to Flat Rock Speedway for a Saturday night of racing, featuring a last-lap pass by Rob Moore for the win and a great battle to the finish in the 250 lap Enduro race, with Rayce Metdepennigen awarded the win.    David Price grabbed the 4 Cylinder win.  All 3 drivers took their cars to the Sun Drop Victory Lane.

The 25 lap ARCA DTS Street Stock feature race was accident-filled, including a complete restart of the race when front row starters Clyde McKee and Corey Duane tangled, collecting Tim Moore and a host of other cars.  When the race went back to green flag, McKee darted out front with the lead.  Through several yellow flags, Clyde kept the point but with 2 laps to go, the yellow appeared again, bunching the field for another double-file restart.  After a couple of tries, the green was displayed.  Rob Moore was in second spot and as the cars came to the white flag, McKee slid up the track, Moore slid back under and nosed into the lead as the checkered flag appeared, giving Moore the edge for the exciting victory.  Kyle Worley was also able to get by McKee at the stripe to take second, McKee was third, Landon Schuster fourth and Craig Lange fifth, followed by Guy Fire, Danny Bennett, Steve Searles, Scot Bunge and Scott Selmi.

Grant Hedges posted the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts fast time with a lap of 13:674 to lead the 25 car field.  Heat race wins went to McKee, Bunge and Gary Calhoun.

8-3_enduro_1.jpgThe first 50 laps of the 250 lap Enduro saw a trio of red flags for the 34 car field.  As things finally settled down, some great racing took place and the battle for the lead kept things changing up front.  Rick Bennett took the lead at the start, while May race winner Robb Remick applied the pressure.  That lead duo traded the lead back and forth until Rayce Metdpenningen entered the picture.  2012 Enduro champ Matt Ringger and Jeff Braun rounded out the top 5 at the 50 lap mark.

On lap 66, Metdepenningen took over the lead, but Remick came right back on lap 72 to take command.  And, at lap 90, Rayce again grabbed the top spot from Robb, but that battle was not done.  Ringger had to pit just past the half-way mark and Braun popped a tire.  Bobby Hugo, who had moved into top 3, then had an engine let go, putting just the lead duo of Metdepenningen and Remick all alone on the lead lap.  That pair were right together as the laps wound down, separated by just a car length for much of the final 40 laps.  In a tremendous race of door to door, fender to fender racing, Remick got under Rayce going down the back-chute with the white flag ready to drop.  At the stripe, Robb nosed by Rayce to take the win.  Remick’s car failed post-race inspection, which put Rayce Metdepenningen in the victory column.  Jeff Metdepenningen, Rayce’s father, took second in his 4 Cylinder machine, third was Bob Swanson, fourth went to Derrick Sheppard and fifth was Paul Martell.  Jimmy Gullett, Tom Sprotberry, Shawn Bershback, Chris Kamlay and Rick Bennett completed the top ten.

8-3_4_cylinder_29.jpgDavid Price captured the 20 lap ARCA 4 Cylinder feature race over David Katafiacz, Shawn Williams, Mike Bershback and Joe Appel.  Price took over the number 1 spot from Bershback early on and stayed out front for the remainder of the event.  Fast time went to Price at 14:956.
