TOLEDO SPEEDWAY TO HOST NATIONAL BMX RACE AUG. 9-10-11

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 24, 2013) - The Toledo Speedway BMX (Bicycle Motocross Racing) track, located on the grounds of Toledo Speedway, will host the Buckeye Nationals USA BMX races Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 9-10-11.

A group of nearly 1000 Bicycle riders from across the United States and Canada will converge on the Glass City for this weekend of racing at the BMX track operated by Toledo resident Brad Moore.  Moore and his group made a presentation to the National BMX group to host the event and the Toledo facility was selected to host this national-type race.

Toledo, Ohio actually hosted a World Cup Series BMX event in 1994 at the former Toledo Sports Arena.

One of the newest sports to be included in the Olympics, BMX racing features racing for all ages and is a family-oriented sport.  The Toledo track  is located on the west end of the grounds of Toledo Speedway, a paved oval track for race cars.

Admission for the 3 days of BMX racing is free. There is a charge for parking.  Concessions will be available on the grounds all 3 days.  Friday’s action begins at 1:30 p.m.. Saturday racing starts at 8 a.m. and Sunday’s card has an 8 a.m. start.

“We are extremely proud of the effort that Brad Moore and his group have put forth in order to secure this national event for his BMX track,” noted Ron Drager, owner and promoter of Toledo Speedway.  “This is a huge event not only for Toledo Speedway, but for the City of Toledo, its hotels, restaurants and shops.  We are working with Brad to ensure that all of the guests to the grounds have an enjoyable time here in Toledo.”

The Buckeye Cable Sports Network (BCSN) will be taping portions of the weekend, while the Health and Wellness Cable Channel will also be in Toledo to cover the event.
