FRIDAY TOLEDO SPEEDWAY FIREWORKS IS A NO-GO; RACING STILL A GO

(TOLEDO, Ohio - July 1, 2013) - Due to concerns from the city and the fireworks company, Toledo Speedway’s fireworks show slated for Friday night, July 5 has been scrapped.  The speedway was notified of this decision Monday afternoon.  The racing program is still planned, with a 7:30 p.m. start at the Benore Road facility.

“We are extremely disappointed that we cannot shoot a fireworks display from the track grounds,” stated Scott Schultz, General Manager of the track.  “There are concerns on the part of the city and the fireworks contractor about the location of a temporary tent on the property directly south of the track.  We apologize to our fans, race teams and all the families that were looking forward to the fireworks show at Toledo Speedway,” added Schultz.  “However, we will go forward with our very entertaining and family-oriented show Friday night.”

The wild Boat Figure 8 race has been added to the Friday, July 5 race card.  Bus rides for the kids will take place at approximately 7:15 p.m., just prior to the start of the show.  The ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman cars will battle on the fast ½ mile paved oval, while the ARCA R & M Recycling X Cars and 4 Cylinders tackle the short track.

Adult tickets are just $12 each, children 6-12 are $3 and under 6 are admitted free.

Toledo Speedway offers free parking on the track grounds.  The front gate and ticket office open at 5, practice begins at 5, time trials at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The track phone number is 419-727-1100.  The track is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis exit, behind Meijer.
