FORECAST IS WRONG----FLAT ROCK COMPLETES SATURDAY SHOW!

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 1, 2013) - Well, the forecast for rain was at 80%, pretty much a sure bet for a Saturday washout.  With no rain falling, the decision was made to go ahead with the Glass Unlimited Autograph Night at Flat Rock Speedway.  Albeit a few sprinkles, the show was completed  and Eric Lee, Tadek Stadniczuk, Dennis Whisman and David Price captured the feature wins.  Walter Krause of Glass Unlimited presented the trophies in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.  A fabulous rendition of both the Canadian and National Anthems by the Barbershop Quartet “The Party” kicked off the Saturday night action.

Rookie Frank Jiovani grabbed the lead at the start of the ARCA Moran Chevrolet 50 lap Late Model feature race.  Frank got the edge on Paul Pelletier and had control, but left the bottom lane open and Dennis Strickland took advantage and took over the number 1 spot on lap 3.  Dennis had Eric Lee follow him through and Lee immediately looked to the high side, worked his way up to the door of Dennis and became the new leader on lap 19.  Eric stayed out front the remainder of the way to score his 2nd win of 2013 at Flat Rock.  Paul Pelletier stayed in the battle and took second spot, Terry Bogusz notched his best Flat Rock run with a third place finish, Steve Cronenwett Jr. was fourth and Scott Pemberton recorded a solid run with fifth spot.  Strickland faded to sixth at the finish, with Derek Wiley, Justin Schroeder, Jiovani and Joe Hawes completing the top ten.  Schroeder paced the 20 car field in time trials at the wheel of Danny Slater’s #3 with a time of 11:769.  Pelletier, Pemberton and Jeff MacZink took the heat wins.

ss_winner_6-1.jpgTadek Stadniczuk was in command the entire distance and took the victory in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock feature, which saw just 1 yellow flag.  Tadek started on the pole by virtue of the 10 car invert and was tough out front as he sailed to his win.  The race-long battle for second between rookie Corey Duane and Grant Hedges went to Duane, fourth was Landon Schuster and fifth was Kyle Worley, followed by Scott Selmi, Tim Moore, Chad Guinn, Rob Moore and Chris Fitzpatrick.  Selmi led the 27 car field in the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts qualifying with a lap of 13:539.  Worley, rookie Rick Bennett and old pro Rich Abel were the heat race winners.

f-8_winner_6-1.jpgA wild 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature race saw Dennis Whisman score his first win of the season at Flat Rock, coming back after losing an engine the previous race.  Several fender-banging incidents and some wild passes at the intersection scattered the field throughout the race, but “The Rebel” hung on for the win.  Jeremy Miller secured second, Jeremy Vanderhoof was third, Jerry Lee fourth and Danny Gaddis fifth.  Dan Apperson, Stephanie Bradley, Robbie Loving (in Scott Apperson’s #21), Ian Jezylo, Randy Roberts and Greg Studt followed.  Studt got caught up in one of the incidents after challenging for a top 5 finish.  Gaddis set the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts quick time at 20:942.  Lee and Loving took heat race wins.

4_cyl_winner_6-1.jpgDavid Price set fast time (15:039) and was the winner in the 20 lap ARCA 4 Cylinder feature race, edging David Katafiasz and Shawn Wallace.  The trio ran together the entire distance.
