REMICK TAKES FLAT ROCK ENDURO 250

(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - May 18, 2013) - Robb Remick clinched the 250 lap Enduro and the $1000 first place dough Saturday night at Flat Rock Speedway in front of the largest crowd of the season on UAW Local 3000 and Scout Night.  Robb’s win was his first after many years of competition at the track in the Enduro events.  It was a memorable night for MCR Dwarf Car driver Stephen Bobek as he captured the 25 lap feature, pulled into the Sun Drop victory lane a single man, but after proposing to his girlfriend, he will now be driving straight to the wedding chapel!

David Katafiasz drove to the win in the 20 lap ARCA 4-Cylinder feature, while Troy Brehmer was the fastest and kept his boat attached to grab Figure-8 boat feature.

There were 28 cars for the first Enduro 250 lap feature of the year and it was fast-paced throughtout the event.  Jeff Metdepenningen, Rayce Metdepenningen and Robb Remick started the three-wide feature on the front row.  In this green-white-checkered feature, Remick led the first 40 laps.  Rick Bennett was on Remick’s tail coming around turn 4, and was able to take the lead in lap 43.  Rayce Metdepenningen didn’t let Bennett hold on to first for long, as he zipped right by in lap 47, but on lap 55 Bennett got back the top spot.  Remick sailed along out front as the laps wound down.  Dave Stadniczuk started to reel in the leader but dropped out with a mechanical woes.  In the final 5, Kyle Metdepenningen closed the gap quickly and on the final lap, pulled even with Remick.  The duo finished side-by-side as Remick clinched his big victory.  Kyle Metdepenningen came up just short at the stripe to finish second, Brian Ringger was third, Bobby Hugo fourth, and Derrick Sheppard fifth.  Kyle Huston, Jeff Braun, Jimmy Gullett, Jeff Metdepenningen and Shawn Bershback rounded out the top ten.

dwarf_winner.jpgIn the Finish Line Expediting MCR Dwarf Car 25 lap feature, Stephen Bobek set the pace, setting fast time in qualifying with a 12.682 for the 18 car field.  The first caution of the feature was for Rick Ayers when he spun out in lap 4.  Kevin Ayers was in command early in the main event, but Bobek caught Kevin and got by the leader with 10 to go and sailed from there to clinch the victory over Kevin Ayers, Hoffman, Junior Gould, Jon Wylie, Todd Getz, Troy Hoffman, Jim Miller, Joe McManman and Roger Balcom.  Gould, Miller and Joe McManman took the heat race wins.

 

 

 

four_cyl_winner.jpgDavid Katafiasz captured the ARCA 4 Cylinder main event, holding back the challenge of David Price to grab the win.  John Decker was third.  Price posted the fast time at 15:116.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

f-8_boat_winner.jpgTroy Brehmer topped rookie Race Loving, Jack Franzil and Bill Carberry to win the Figure 8 Boat race.  Franzil and Loving both lost their boats and trailers as they slammed into the concrete wall, destroying the boats and trailers, much to the delight of the crowd.

Saturday, May 25 the fastest race cars on the planet invade “The Rock” as the Winged, fire-breathing MSA Super Modifieds come to town.  The $999 “Level Pebble Flat Flyin’ Bonus” is up for grabs to the driver that qualifies in the 9 second bracket!  If more than 1 driver accomplishes that goal, they will split the bonus money!

The DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks and the Parts Galore Figure-8’s will also be in action.  The evening will be capped off with a fireworks display!  The green flag waves at 7 pm.
