LEE-SELMI-STUDT TAKE FLAT ROCK WINS

Flat Rock, Michigan—May 4, 2013:  It was another gorgeous Saturday night for racing at Flat Rock Speedway.  Eric Lee pulled into the Sun Drop victory lane in the 50 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature, Scott Selmi got the victory in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock contest, while Greg Studt was the winner of the 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 race.

In the 50 lap Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature, Derek Wiley set fast time in qualifying with an 11.828.  Wiley rolled a 7 for the inversion, putting Paul Pelletier and Scott Pemberton on the front row.  Just 2 yellow flags slowed the action.  Pelletier zipped into the lead, but a lap 3 caution for Steve Cronenwett Jr. and Scott Pemberton bunched the field.  Lee moved to the outside lane in the double-file restart and took command as the race went back to green flag action.  Eric held a slight lead over Dennis Strickland the rest of the distance to clinch the victory.  Strickland held on to second, Cronenwett Jr. was strong, coming from the back and making up a bunch of ground to finish third, while Stan Yee Jr. got by rookie Frank Jiovani on the final lap to take fourth spot.  Joe Hawes, Pemberton, Wiley, Jeff Plumb and Jim Alvis rounded out the top ten.   Defending champ Pelletier dropped out of the race in the early stages.  Cronenwett Jr. and Alvis captured the heat race events.

A total of 26 cars took the green flag for the 25 lap DTS Street Stock feature.  Clyde McKee and Scott Selmi started on the front row.  A few cautions and a red flag slowed things.  Selmi edged by McKee on lap 8 to grab the lead and Scott was able to hold on to the top spot for the rest of the race to claim the victory and pulled into the Sun Drop victory lane.  Landon Schuster came back after a hard crash last Saturday to take second, Tim Moore was third, Tadek Stadniczuk fourth and Grant Hedges fifth, followed by rookie Guy Fire, Rob Moore, Rich Frantz, Kyle Worley and Scot Bunge.  Tim Moore’s lap of 13.575 was good enough for the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts fast time in the qualifying session.  Heat race winners were rookie Corey Duane, Rob Moore and Jeff Luttermoser.

Greg Studt captured the 20 lap Parts Galore Figure 8 feature, edging out Dennis Whisman for the victory.  Last week’s winner Jeremy Vanderhoof took third, getting by Billy Earley with 2 laps to go, sliding Billy back to fourth.  Jerry Lee was fifth,  with Jeremy Miller, Danny Gaddis, Robbie Loving, Danny Apperson and Ian Jezylo completing the top ten. Vanderhoof set the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts quick time at 20.881.  Lee and Studt notched the heat race wins.

Saturday, May 11 is the date for the 100 lap ARCA Truck Series race at Flat Rock Speedway. Another round of DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks and the Parts Galore Figure 8’s will also hit the track for more great entertainment.  The green flag waves at 7 pm.
