Historic 7-Up 150 on tap at Toledo Speedway

It’s race day at Toledo Speedway.

The first-ever meeting of the ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour takes place today at the high-banked half-mile track in Toledo.

Today’s schedule has practice from 11 a.m. to Noon and from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Qualifying is set for 3, with two last-chance races at 5 p.m., followed by a driver autograph session, driver introductions and the 7-Up 150 lap main event.

ARCAracing.com will provide live timing and scoring and audio all day.

The race will include a lap 76 break and will be all-green flag.

The race brings together the two ARCA-sanctioned touring series for the first time.

The ARCA Midwest Tour typically races in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois. The ARCA/CRA Super Series mainly tours Michigan, Ohio and Indiana tracks. This ‘Border Wars’ event will be repeated in Madison, Wisconsin later this year.

Chris Wimmer, an ARCA Midwest Tour “Touring Star” was fastest in Friday night’s practice in his 52 machine.

“With the change in sanctioning body for the Midwest Tour, I think it’s neat that they are getting together with other top ARCA sanctioned series and getting us all together to race,” Wimmer said.

Wimmer, who finished third in Midwest Tour points last year, is anxious to get back on the track after bad luck a month ago at South Alabama Speedway.

“My Preval Chevy was really good down at the Rattler last month,” he said. “And I was so disappointed in how the weekend ended. I had a lot of work to do on the car to get it ready for Toledo, but it’s back together and I’m just excited to get back on the track again.”

A super field of late models includes three drivers who are currently running in the national ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards tour, dozens of ARCA Midwest Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series veterans and other late model drivers who wanted to be part of the field. More than 40 cars are expected to attempt to qualify.
