ARCA Truck Series prepares for 2013 season

(MILLERSPORT, Ohio) - The ARCA Truck Series, in preparation for its 15th consecutive season of competition, has released some of its 2013 race dates.

Under the direction of Phoenix Management Group of Ohio L.L.C. for the fourth season, the first green flag will wave Saturday, May 11 at Flat Rock (Mich.) Speedway, just southwest of Detroit.

Toledo Speedway will follow on May 18, one of two weekends the Truck Series will serve as a companion race with the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards - the other being at Winchester Speedway on June 29. Former Truck Series champion Danny Jackson is the defending race winner at Flat Rock, Toledo and Winchester.

For the second consecutive season, Randy Holbrook's Lake County Speedway in Painesville, Ohio will host the Trucks Saturday night, June 1. Last year, 64-year-old Steve Christman took his fifth series win on the ultra-tight, one-fifth-mile flat oval.

Additional dates on the 2013 schedule include Ona Speedway in Ona, West Virginia on June 15, Kil-Kare Speedway in Xenia, Ohio on July 5, and Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville, Kentucky on September 1. The series is slated to wrap its season back at Lake County Speedway October 12-13.

Defending series champion Levi Mansfield, who won last year's Truck title by just five points over Jackson, is expected to return to defend his title in the No. 54 Kirsch Motorsports Chevrolet.

The ARCA Truck Series, under management from the Phoenix Management Group of Ohio, LLC, operates under a licensing agreement with the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA).

The ARCA Truck Series ran exhibition races in 1998, debuting with its first championship season in 1999. The series has grown into one of the most versatile touring series in short track racing, having taken popular four cylinder, V-6 & Ford V-8 crate-powered trucks to a wide variety of tracks on both pavement and dirt. The series has also raced on road courses.
