TRACK RECORD HOLDER SCHULTZ, FORMER ARCA/CRA CHAMP HANTZ ENTER MILLER LITE 100 AT TOLEDO
(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 12, 2012) - The field for the Miller Lite 100 at Toledo Speedway just got more impressive with the addition of several entries over the weekend. The race, scheduled for this Friday night, August 17, teams the ARCA Allegiant Gold Cup and the Main Event Racing Series together for the first time as the outlaw-bodied Late Models will battle in a 100 lap feature event.
All-time
Toledo Speedway track record holder Charlie Schultz will jump from his
open-wheel rides to his Late Model for Friday’s race, which is the last tune-up
for the Late Models prior to the season-ending Great Lakes Helicopter Glass
City 200 September 29. Charlie set the
short track world on fire in June of 2011 by posting an incredible lap of
12:389 in a Winged Sprinter at Toledo
as part of the annual “Fastest Short Track Show in the World” at the
track. The Ohio speedster has dabbled in the Late Model
ranks for several seasons, primarily with the Main Event Series. Schultz finished 3rd in the MSA
Super Modified race at Flat Rock Speedway Saturday night.
Angola, IN racer Scott Hantz has also entered the Miller Lite 100. Scott was nearly unbeatable at Toledo a few years ago, posting 4 wins in a row and was on his way to the elusive Glass City 200 win, only to encounter trouble in the late stages of the race. Hantz has 9 outlaw wins at the Glass City oval and several ARCA/CRA Super Series wins also at the track.
Entries have also been received from local driver Chris Benson, who has returned to racing after a 2 year absence. Ada, MI driver Barry Hartwell will make the trip from the west side of the state of Michigan to Toledo for the Miller Lite 100.
Several drivers have competed in both series during the 2012 season. A field of 25-30 cars is expected for the Toledo race, which pays $2500 to win and $500 to start the 100 lap feature race.
The top 3 in the final ARCA Allegiant Series points will receive 2 round trip airline tickets, courtesy of Allegiant Travel. The champion will also receive a test in an ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards stock car at the annual ARCA test in December at Daytona International Speedway, courtesy of Fast Track Driving School and Andy Hillenburg.
Toledo’s ARCA R & M Recycling Street Stocks and the ARCA 4 Cylinders will also be in action for the Miller Lite 100 Night of racing. Big Wheel races will take place at 7 p.m. for the kids Friday night.
The pit area will open at 2 p.m., practice begins at 4:30, time trials are at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
