(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 16, 2012) - Jason Cox and Mike Lichty were the big winners in Friday night’s All American Coach “Fastest Short Track Show in the World,” for the Town Money Saver MSA Winged Super Modifieds and the winged Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints (AVBBSS) at Toledo Speedway.  Tom McGuire of All American Coach, along with his grandchildren, presented the 5 foot trophies to the winners in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.

The 30 lap AVBBSS Super Sprint feature saw several yellow flags for stalled cars, with no serious mishaps.  Local favorite Dave Baumgartner took the lead and held it for 9 laps, but had an early battle with Ryan Litt.  Litt faded and after several restarts, Jason Cox was on the fly.  Starting 10^th, Jason, the fast qualifier, moved to 4^th on lap 8.  By lap 10, Cox sailed by on the outside lane and never looked back.  Randy Sweet lost his wing on lap 26, which brought out the yellow and gave Baumgartner and Jimmy McCune one last shot at the win.  Cox was up to the task as he grabbed the victory, McCune, moving from the 15^th starting spot, zipped into second on the last restart to take the spot from Baumgartner.  Fourth was Cody Gallogly and Joe Swanson was fifth, followed by Mike Ling, Kyle Flint, Billy Tyler, Troy DeCaire and Dorman Snyder. 

Cox wowed the huge crowd in time trials with a lap just short of Charlie Schultz’s track record.  Jason stopped the clocks at 12:473 to lead the 22 car field, just missing Charlie’s 12:389 record.  Baumgartner, McCune and Flint were the heat race winners.

Canadian Mike Lichty checked out on the 17 car MSA Super Modified field on lap 18 and despite a yellow flag with just 6 laps to go, stormed to the victory in the 40 lap main event.  Fellow Canadian resident Mark Sammut took the start at the green and stayed there for the first 14 laps.  On the following lap, Dave McKnight upheld the Maple Leaf charge and took over the top spot.  Lichty got by several cars on a restart, pulled into contention and took charge on lap 18, after a great 3 car battle between the Canadians.  McKnight slowed on that lap 34 yellow but there was no stopping Lichty as he pulled away for the win.  Trent Stephens, the fast qualifier at 13:072, put on a show and got to the front with 10 laps to go, taking the second spot at the stripe.  Sammut was third, Bobby Dawson fourth and DJ Shullick Jr. fifth.  Mike McVetta, Charlie Schultz, AJ Russell, AJ Lesiecki and Moe Lilje completed the top ten finishers.  Johnny Benson, who had run in the top 5 early in the race, dropped out in the late stages.  Benson won a heat race, with the other heat going to Lichty.

Friday, June 22 Toledo Speedway goes back to stock car racing with the rescheduled Autograph Night, hosted by Parts Galore and Marco’s Pizza.  Fans can walk onto the track and meet the drivers in person!  The evening is being sponsored by Qualite Sports Lighting Systems.  The company just recently completed the installation of the lighting upgrade at Toledo with great results!  The speedway will also host Racing Fan Club Night on the 22^nd for the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club and Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club members.

The ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman, R & M Recycling Street Stocks, ARCA 4 Cylinders and the Michigan Legends Cars will provide the action and entertainment on the track!
