(FLAT ROCK, Michigan - June 2, 2012) - With rain threatening to the north of the track, Flat Rock Speedway was still able to complete the Corrigan Race Fuels-sponsored night of racing.  Saturday’s feature winners were Dennis Strickland, Dennis Whisman, Tim Moore and Rick Bennett.  Scooby Doo was on hand to meet fans of all ages

The track also hosted Racing Fan Club Night.  Members from the Dayton Auto Racing Fan Club and the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club (MARFC) were in attendance.  The Dayton group presented the feature winners with T-Shirts and memberships, while Street Stock driver Rob Moore was the recipient of the MARFC helmet bag.

Carleton, MI resident Dennis Strickland picked up his first win of 2012 via his victory in the 50 lap ARCA Moran Chevrolet Late Model feature event.  Early leader Derek Wiley held the point as Strickland applied the pressure by lap 17.  On lap 31, Dennis used lapped traffic to his advantage to grab the lead and stayed there to the checkered flag.  Wiley took second, Steve Cronenwett Jr. was third, Paul Pelletier was fourth and Joe Hawes fifth, followed by Terry Bogusz, Jeff Plumb, Jim Alvis, Dan Trosen Jr. and Todd Perkins.  Wiley set fast time at 11:813, with the heat wins to Strickland and Cronenwett Jr.

“The Rebel” Dennis Whisman also used lapped traffic on his way to his initial win of 2012 at Flat Rock in the 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature event.  Robbie Loving, who has been on a hot streak of sorts to start the season, gave up the lead on the final lap of the race after getting pinned in lapped traffic.   Whisman motored by to take the top spot and win over.Danny Gaddis, Loving, Jeremy Miller, Scott Apperson, Gary Cronenwett, Greg Studt, Sam Hall, Steve Chartrand and Nick Bradley.  Gaddis set fast time at 20:666.  Studt and Hall notched heat race wins.

Defending track champion Tim Moore had a tough start to the year, but changed his luck Saturday night by scoring the win in the 25 lap ARCA DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock A Main race.  Moore led every lap and withstood the pressure from Clyde McKee in the final 5 laps to gain his first win of 2012.  McKee settled for second, Scott Selmi was third, Frank Jiovani fourth and Rich Frantz fifth, followed by Tadek Stadniczuk, Nick Shanks, Rob Moore, Darrell Krause and Billy Cronce. 

Rick Bennett and Mark Lavoie battled door to door as Bennett emerged with the victory in the 15 lap Street Stock B Main race.  Third was Tom Jacobs and fourth was Danny Doyle.  Frantz posted the Fastime Racing Engines and Parts fast time at 13:477.  Heat race winners were Shanks, Steve Chartrand, Rich Abel and Bennett. 

It’s Kids Night this Saturday, June 9 at Flat Rock Speedway!  Lakeshore Utility Trailer Sales will sponsor the night of great family fun at “The Rock”.  Kids to age 14 are FREE and receive a FREE hot dog, chips and drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Jim’s Butcher Shop, the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group and Herr’s Potato Chips.

The ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8’s, DTS Drive Train Street Stocks and the ARCA 4 Cylinders will provide the on-track action!  The TKC Go-Karts will stage several exhibition races prior to the start of the race card, which begins at 7 p.m.
