Spartan Champs Ryan, Stehouwer Enter Sunday’s ARCA Gold Cup Spartan Race
(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 24, 2012) - Spartan Speedway track champions Tim Ryan and Dave Stehouwer have entered Sunday’s ARCA’s Allegiant Late Model Gold Cup Series event for the outlaw-style bodied cars at Spartan Speedway Sunday, May 27
Ryan is the defending Spartan Late Model champ, while Stehouwer captured his title in 2005. Flat Rock driver Jimmy Thiel has also entered the Spartan 100. Thiel has competed at Spartan for several years and will return to the ¼ mile paved oval to take on the field for top honors. Terry Bogusz has withdrawn his entry for this weekend’s race, but the current list still stands at 21 cars that have filed entry forms.
The phone calls are still coming in to the Flat Rock/Toledo offices, and management is expecting several more cars to be on hand at the Lansing, MI area track, the first gold Cup race to be held outside of Flat Rock or Toledo Speedway.

The Sunday, May 27 contest at Spartan is part of the Sunday “Slugfest” Series at “The Track the Stars Call Home”. Spartan’s Pony Stocks, Spartan Stocks and a Pony Stock Figure 8 race will also be in action for the Memorial Day holiday weekend event.
The pits open at Noon for the ARCA Gold Cup teams, practice begins at 2:30, time trials are at 4:30 and racing begins at 6 p.m.
