Bowman Fastest in First Menards 200 Practice

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 19, 2012) - Alex Bowman showed his power at each of the two short tracks early in the 2012 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, and today, he appears to be a major contender on a small oval yet again.

Bowman (No. 22 Cunningham Motorsports Dodge) drove the fastest lap in the first of two 45-minute practice sessions at Toledo Speedway, rounding the half-mile oval in 16.274 seconds (110.606 mph). He topped Frank Kimmel, Chad Hackenbracht, Brennan Poole, and Erik Jones.

Bowman won the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell at Mobile in March, and surged to victory at Salem Speedway in April, establishing himself as perhaps the series' premier short track competitor early in the season.

Clint King, Mikey Kile, Grant Enfinger, Chris Buescher, and Tom Hessert comprised the remainder of the top 10. 30 cars made laps in the opening session.

Times and speeds for each of the 30 cars are available here.

ARCARacing.com will feature live timing and scoring coverage from the second practice session at 1 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell will begin at 3:30, setting the starting lineup for Sunday's Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.
