LOVING-JONES- HUSTON TAKE BURGER KING NIGHT WINS AT TOLEDO

(TOLEDO, Ohio - May 11, 2012) - Sunshine and clear skies greeted the fans Friday evening at Toledo Speedway for the Burger King Scout Night.  Scouts were admitted free as guests of the track and the Greater Toledo Burger King Restaurants provided sponsorship for the show.  David Chandler, President and Chief Operating Officer of Bennett Management and the Burger King franchises, presented trophies to the feature winners in the Sun Drop Winner’s Circle.  The track also paid honor to nearly two dozen former racers during the Racer’s Reunion ceremonies.

The 20 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature saw plenty of intersection action throughout the event.  Jerry Lee led the first 10 circuits until Robbie Loving zipped by on the next lap to take control on his way to the victory.  Lee held on for second, Dennis Whisman was third, Gary Cronenwett fourth and Greg Studt fifth, followed by Dan Apperson, Sam Hall, Scott Apperson, Archie Padgett, Nick Bradley and Ian Jezylo.  Heat race wins went to Cronenwett and Scott Apperson.

5-11_sp_30.jpgA rash of yellow flags and several red flags marred the 35 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature on the fast ½ mile paved oval.  Amherstberg, Ontario driver Terry Jones returned to action at Toledo and led every lap to win the race.  Challengers Jim Froling, Howard Kelley Jr., Ron Allen and Dave Arnold Jr. all ran up front but were involved in skirmishes that took them out of contention.  At the checkered flag, Jones edged out fellow Canadian Kyle DeLisle for the victory.  Third was Mike Young, fourth went to Kenny McKay Jr. and Allen came back to grab fifth spot.  Tom O’Leary IV, Norm Lewallen, Kelley Jr., Landon Schuster and Jeff Myers Jr. completed the top ten finishers.

Allen set the fast time for the 22 car field at 17:276.  Greg Stilwell nosed out Tom O’Leary IV by an eyelash to win the 2nd heat, while rookie Landon Schuster took his first checkered flag at Toledo on the ½ mile with his heat race win.  Dave Arnold Jr. captured the fast heat.

5-11_ss_76.jpgThe finale of the night, the 20 lap ARCA R & M Recycling Street Stock race went to Erie, MI resident Kyle Huston, his second in a row on the short track at Toledo.  The 2011 Rookie of the Year won last Friday, went to Flat Rock and crashed, worked on it all week and came right back to take the checkered flag in a popular win.  The all-green flag race saw Dennis Whisman reel in the youngster in the final stages but settled for second spot.  Rick Cousino, Cory McCaughey, Randy Padgett Jr., Dusty Brunt, John Rabideau, James Good, Kris King, Pat Fields and Don Cox were next in line.  Huston set fast time at 11:781, with the heat wins to Cousino and Cox.

There will be no racing at Toledo next Friday, May 18 as the track prepares for one of its biggest events of the year, the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.  The 200 lap race for the superspeedway-style stock cars of the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards will make the trip to Toledo for its one and only event in the Glass City for 2012 next Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20.

Friday night the big semis will pull in to park in the pit area, while race team registration is held at the Speedway Bar and Grille from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. May 19.  The up and coming CJ Solar Band will provide free entertainment in the Speedway Bar and Grille beginning at 8 p.m.  The NASCAR Truck race from Charlotte will also be shown on the bar/grille TV’s Friday night. Saturday, May 19 is practice and qualifying day for the ARCA cars, while the ARCA Truck Series will do the same on Saturday, highlighted by the Grogans Towne 50 for the Truck Series machines.

Practice for the day begins at 11:15, qualifying is at 2:15 and the 50 lap main event is set for a 5 p.m. start. Race day is Sunday, May 20, with the front gates opening at 10 a.m.  The ARCA FanFest, which runs Saturday and Sunday in the track parking lot, will swing into action also at 10 a.m.

The on-track autograph session begins at Noon, and the green flag will drop for the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at 2 p.m.   Some reserved seating remains for next Sunday’s race.  Any ticket purchased for Sunday includes admission for Saturday’s events as well.  Reserved seat tickets may be obtained by calling the track at 419-727-1100.
