RE-START PROCEDURE CHANGE-FLAT ROCK AND TOLEDO SPEEDWAYS

April 25, 2012:  After hearing your comments at both practice sessions this past Saturday and Sunday, the double-file re-start procedure has been adjusted.  Simply, lapped cars will fall to the back before racing goes back to green, and the first car a lap down will receive the “Lucky Dog”, putting them on the lead lap.

This applies to all divisions, including Gold Cup.  The complete procedure follows:

Each class will now include double-file restarts. The following details the procedure.

Under caution, cars will remain in single file order. When the track is cleared to resume racing, drivers will be instructed as follows (by spotters in Late Models and Sportsman, by scanner/Raceceiver in Figure 8, Street Stock, 4 Cylinders):

1. When instructed by Tower/Spotter Stand/Flagstand Official, the first car a lap down will be given the “lucky dog” and will be instructed to progress forward at a safe speed until they have come around to the tail of the field, thereby getting their lap back.  Lapped cars will then be instructed to pull to the outside lane in the order they are running and drop to the back, single file behind the last lead-lap car.

2. When instructed by Tower/Spotter Stand/Flagstand Officials, after all lapped cars have lined up behind lead lap cars, the cars will then double up to prepare for the green flag restart. CARS 1st, 3rd, 5th and odd numbered restart positions will be in the inside lane, and 2nd, 4th, 6th and even numbered restart positions will be in the outside lane. LAP DOWN CARS will double up from the order they are in single file alternating inside/outside behind the lead lap cars.
