ENTRY LIST GROWS TO 31 FOR TOLEDO’S GREAT LAKES HELICOPTERS GLASS CITY 200
(TOLEDO, Ohio - September 22, 2011) - The entry list for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1 at Toledo Speedway has now grown to 31 entries as of Thursday, September 22.
Mt. Morris, MI driver Johnny Belott returns to Toledo in a Late Model for the first time in several years. Belott, who has 4 career Toledo wins to his credit and is a former Rookie of the Year at the track. Dakota Carlson of Cedar Springs, MI has also filed an entry and has had some strong outings at the Glass City oval.
Flat Rock, MI driver Ricky Kargel will make his first attempt at Toledo in the Glass City 200 race. Kargel is a front-runner at Flat Rock Speedway and has spent some time practicing at the ½ mile paved oval in recent weeks. Local drivers Tom O’Leary IV (Cygnet, OH) and Scot Bunge (Sylvania, OH) are also on the entry list.
Bonus awards that have been posted will push the total payout to nearly $57,000. The weekend begins on Friday, September 30 with an optional practice session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The main grandstand will be open for the Friday practice at no charge to race fans.
Race day on Saturday will see practice beginning at noon and time trials are at 3 p.m. PNC Bank will sponsor a Nickel/penny grab for kids 12 and under at 4:30 p.m. Pre-race ceremonies will follow. Tom Treece of Monroe, MI will sing God Bless America and Toledoan Steve Zilka will perform the National Anthem on his trumpet. Racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m. Sunday, October 2 will serve as the rain date for the event.
