TOLEDO CROWNS ALLEN, VANDERHOOF, MARLOW CHAMPS

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 26, 2011) - Northwest Ohio Beverage Distributors, through its Miller Lite brand, sponsored the Season Championships at Toledo Speedway Friday evening.  Ron Allen, Jeremy Vanderhoof and Mike Marlow were crowned the 2011 champions in their respective divisions.  Feature winners for the night were Allen, Dennis Whisman, Marlow and Eric Huston for the Valvoline Instant Oil Change Centers Summer Racing Series closer.  Special events make up the Toledo September and October schedule.

 

 

 

 

 

 

8-26_tol_sp_69.jpgThe 40 lap ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman feature saw 3 different leaders.  Kenny McKay Jr. led the first 6 laps until he spun entering turn 3, bringing out the yellow and giving the lead to Greg Stilwell.  Greg led the 18 car field back to the green, but Ron Allen was on the move to the front from the 10th starting spot.  Allen used the high lane and took the lead on lap 13 and held a solid lead for the remainder of the race as Ron captured the track championship.  Dave Arnold Jr. took second, Howard Kelley Jr. third, Kyle DeLisle nipped Stilwell for fourth at the stripe, while Tom O’Leary was 6th.  Norm Lewallen, Randy Cornett, McKay Jr. and Scott Bross completed the top 10.  Allen set fast time at 17:304, with the heat wins to O’Leary and McKay Jr.

 

8-26_tol_f8_winner_1.jpgWhile Dennis “The Rebel” Whisman sailed to a win in the exciting 25 lap ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8 feature, Jeremy Vanderhoof notched his 2nd Toledo title via his 3rd place finish.  Robbie Loving zipped through the field to grab second, Vanderhoof third, Greg Studt fourth and Dan Apperson fifth.  Randy Roberts, Scott Apperson, Tim Murphy, James Rae and Sam Hall were next in line to complete the top 10.  Studt and Scott Apperson took the heat race wins.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8-26_tol_4_cylinder_14.jpgA rough and tumble 25 lap ARCA Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinder feature went to Mike Marlow.  Mike’s win cemented his first track title.  David Katafiasz, Perry Marlow, Grayson York, Matt Brazeau and Jeff Wells trailed at the stripe.  Brazeau set quick time at 12:630, with the heat race win to Wells.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8-26_tol_ss_26.jpgThe all-green flag 25 lap ARCA R & M Recycling Street Stock race saw great racing throughout the pack.  Matt Ringger took the lead and held it for 10 laps, with Dennis Whisman, again pulling double duty, grabbing the point on lap 11.  Fast qualifier Eric Huston (11:506), moving up from the 8th starting spot, challenged Whisman with 8 laps to go.  On lap 21, Huston nosed into the bottom lane entering turn 1 and grabbed the lead for the final laps to take the victory over Whisman, Ringger, Rich Frantz, Mike Hammer, Cory McCaughey, John Rabideau, Kyle Huston, Luke Davis and Pat Fields.  Randy Padgett and McCaughey grabbed the heat race wins. 

 

 

 

 

Friday, September 2 it’s the Wendy’s “Night of Destruction” at Toledo Speedway, featuring the School Bus Figure 8 races!  A Figure 8 Train race, Boat Figure 8 race, plywood race, back-up race, race car bowling and the newest-craze, the Road Course race, are all on the race card.  Tickets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. race day, with racing set to begin at 7:30 p.m.  A rain date of Sunday, September 4 has been set if needed.
