The 23rd Running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 is Toledo’s signature event each season.  The Late Model invitational will see drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Canada on hand for the 200 lap event on the fast, ½ mile paved oval.  Milan, MI driver Harold Fair Jr. is the defending champion of the race.  The track’s Sportsman, Figure 8 and Street Stock divisions will also be in action as part of the weekend, which begins on Friday, September 30.

Friday’s schedule includes an open practice from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  With the purchase of a pit pass on Friday, a dinner of BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, cole slaw, corn on the cob and potato is included!  The dinner will be served at the Speedway Bar and Grille from 7:30-9 p.m.  The popular “Basement Dawgs” band will take the stage at 9 p.m.

Saturday has practice at noon, time trials at 3 and racing at a special starting time of 5 p.m.  Feature events for all classes are slated and will conclude with the Glass City 200 race.  A rain date of Sunday, October 2 has been set if needed.

Perhaps the biggest National Championship weekend at a short track will take place at the Glass City oval Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16.  The USAC Silver Crown division will make their 2nd trip to Toledo and crown their 2011 champ with the running of the Rollie Beale 150.  The USAC Regional Midgets will also race Saturday, and practice and qualifying for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is also on the schedule.  Practice begins at 11 a.m. and racing starts at 3:30.  The 150 lap race is expected to get the green flag around 5 p.m.

Sunday, October 16, Toledo will close out its season with the ARCA National Championship 200 presented by Federated Car Care.  An on-track autograph session is set for noon and the 200 lap contest gets the green flag at 2 p.m.

Reserved seating is available for October 1 and October 16.  The USAC race will be general admission only.  Tickets for the Glass City 200 are $25 each; for the October 15 USAC race, tickets are $20 in advance, and $25 the day of the show; ARCA National Championship race tickets for Sunday, October 16 are $25 each.  General admission, reserved and children’s ticket will all be sold in advance.  Children 6-12 are $3 each for each race date, and under 6 are free.  There is no 2-day ticket package available for October 15-16, due to the fact that the Saturday event is a track lease.
