FLAT ROCK ACTION HALTED BY RAIN AGAIN

Flat Rock, Michigan—August 20, 2011:  For the second week in a row, Flat Rock Speedway’s racing program was cancelled due to rain.  The MSA Super Modifieds were at the track for their first appearance in 30 years, but Mother Nature put a stop to the action.

The MSA event will not be rescheduled for this year, as the season enters its final weeks.  The group will, however, be part of the 2012 Flat Rock schedule of events.  NASCAR driver David Ragan was also slated to be at the track, and the Parts Galore Figure 8’s and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stocks were ready for action until the rain set in about 5 minutes into the qualifying session.  The track has encountered rain 4 of the last 5 Saturday nights.

Saturday, August 27 is the Corrigan Oil Kids Night.  All children to age 14 will be admitted FREE when accompanied by an adult, and will also receive a FREE hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Jim’s Butcher Shop, Seyfert’s Snacks and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.  Parents should pick up a child’s ticket/food voucher at the ticket window upon arrival to the track.

The MCR Dwarf Cars will pay a visit to “The Rock” and will be joined by the Parts Galore Figure 8’s, DTS Drive Train Specialists and the Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinders.

Tickets from Leppen Chiropractic, UAW Local 3000 and the United Way of Monroe County dated from the August 13 rain-out will be honored August 27 only.  Those tickets must be exchanged at the ticket windows.

The pits open at 3, practice begins at 4, time trials are at 5:30 and racing begins at 7 p.m.  The front gates and ticket office will also open at 4 p.m.  The track phone number is 734-782-2480.  For more information, log onto www.flatrockspeedway.com.
