Toledo Adds Popular Road Course Race To Wendy’s Night Of Destruction Event

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 18, 2011) - Toledo Speedway officials have made the decision to add the increasingly-popular Road Course race to the list of events that will make up the Wendy’s Hamburgers “Night of Destruction”, set for Friday evening, September 2.  The road course layout uses turns 3 and 4 of the high-banked ½ mile, part of the short track, which is the location of the chicane and all of pit road!

The race features several different types of race cars competing against each other and provides great entertainment and action all around the speedway.  Billy Earley won the inaugural event in 2010 in a Street Stock, Tom O’Leary IV captured the spring event this season in a Sportsman car and Cory McCaughey was the winner in the August 12 contest, piloting a Factory Stock.

“The road course race has become a hit with race fans and with our race teams, too,”, noted Ron Drager, promoter of Toledo.  “With the Wendy’s Night of Destruction just weeks away, we have decided to add the event to the schedule, which will allow another group of our fans to see something different and add a little excitement to an already great night of family entertainment and fun.”

In addition to the Road Course Race, the Wendy’s Night of Destruction will be highlighted by the School Bus Figure 8 races!  A Figure 8 Train race, Boat Figure 8 race, race car bowling, plywood race and backup race are also on the schedule.  The Street Stock oval race and Figure 8 race will be replaced by the Road Course event.

Reserved seat tickets for the September 2 event are being sold in advance and may be obtained by calling the track office at 419-727-1100.  All major credit cards are accepted for ticket orders.  ALL general admission tickets and children’s tickets will go on sale at 5:30 p.m. at the track box office on race day.  Race time is 7:30 p.m.  The rain date for the event is Sunday, September 4, using the same time schedule.

The final road course race of the season is set for Saturday, September 24 at 5 p.m.  The Michigan Legends Cars will be in action, along with wives and mechanics races and, for the first time, a husband-wife Train Figure 8 race, with the wife in the driver’s seat of the lead car!  A general public and racer’s flea market will take place in the track parking lot prior to the race from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Toledo Speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border.  The track phone number is 419-727-1100.  For further information, log onto www.toledospeedway.com.
