“BASEMENT DAWGS” BAND TO HEADLINE GLASS CITY 200 WEEKEND

(TOLEDO, Ohio - August 16, 2011) - The popular “Basement Dawgs” band will invade Toledo Speedway for the first time Friday evening, September 30 to kick off the weekend for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1.

The band is widely-known in Southeastern Michigan racing circles and is led by racer Matt Schindenwolf.  The Basement Dawgs have been featured at the annual “Racin and Rockin” at Springport, MI Speedway and the yearly MSTRC Bowling Fundraiser benefit in February.

Friday’s September 30 schedule has an optional practice scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  The pit area will open earlier in the day for pit pass sales, tire sales and tech inspection. 

The action then moves to the Toledo Speedway Bar and Grille, located adjacent to the track.  With the purchase of a pit pass on Friday, each purchaser will receive a full dinner of bbq chicken, bbq ribs, corn on the cob, cole slaw and potato.  Dinner will be served from 7:30 to 9 p.m.  The Basement Dawgs will take to the stage at 9 p.m. for a great night of entertainment, leading into Saturday’s Glass City 200 activities.

More information on the entire weekend will be released shortly.  In addition to the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 Late Model invitational, the track’s Street Stocks, Figure 8’s and Sportsman cars will also race Saturday night, October 1.  Practice begins at noon, time trials are at 3 and racing starts at 5 p.m.

PNC Bank will sponsor a kid’s nickel and penny pitch Saturday afternoon at 4:30 for kids up to age 12. 

Sponsors that have committed their support of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200 weekend include Allegiant Travel, Passtime, Port City Racecars, Burge Wrecking, All Star Performance, Lane Automotive, DTS Drive Train Specialists, R & M Recycling, Kish Ambulance, Bazell Race Fuels, Sunoco Race Fuels, PNC Bank and Moran Chevrolet.

Lap money is being sold at $10 per lap and will go to the leader of each lap in the 200 lap race.  PNC Bank, Super Health Store, Port City Racecars, DVD Dave and Paul and Iris Anton are the early lap money sponsors.
