JULY WINNER ROAHRIG, 3-TIME GLASS CITY CHAMP SAUVE ENTER FOR TOLEDO FRIDAY

JULY WINNER ROAHRIG, 3-TIME GLASS CITY CHAMP SAUVE ENTER FOR TOLEDO FRIDAY

Toledo, Ohio—August 9, 2011:  July race winner JR Roahrig and 3-time Glass City 200 champ Steve Sauve have filed entries for the Friday, August 12 Grogan’s Towne 100 for the ARCA Allegiant Glass City Gold Cup Late Model Series at Toledo Speedway.

Roahrig, the Plymouth, IN native, established at track record for the July 100 lap race at the Glass City oval, finishing the entire 100 laps in an incredible 27 minutes and 34 seconds.  With no yellow flags, the pace was extremely quick, as JR caught Dennis Strickland and passed him for the lead with 6 laps to go on his way to the victory in the #16 Blount Motorsports Dodge.  JR is riding high from his big win at the Summer Sizzler 100 at New Paris, IN Speedway last week.

A surprise entry arrived today as 2002-2003-2004 Glass City 200 winner Steve Sauve of Saginaw, MI will make the trip to Toledo Friday night.  Sauve has run a limited schedule of Late Model races for the past several years and will bring his familiar orange #97.  Sauve is always a front runner at the track and is a fan favorite at Toledo.

Berlin Raceway regular Barry Hartwell of Grand Rapids, MI is also making the drive to Toledo for this Friday’s 100 lap feature.

Current Allegiant Gold Cup point leader Dennis Strickland is entered, as is Harold Fair Jr.  Fair was very fast at the July race, only to have mechanical problems end his night.  Scott Hantz, Brent Jack, Mike Root, Jack Varney Jr., Dakota Carlson are several travelers who are entered, along with local drivers Tom O’Leary IV, Howard Kelley Jr., Derek Wiley, Nick Grodi, Todd Perkins, Joe Hawes, Steve Cronenwett Jr. and Keith Nelson.

The pit gates will open at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 12, practice begins at 4:30, time trials are at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.

The top 3 drivers in the final points will receive a pair of round-trip tickets from Toledo to Florida, courtesy of Allegiant.  A total of three (3) provisional starting positions are also reserved from the final points for the 23rd running of the Great Lakes Helicopters Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1.

The entry form may also be downloaded from the track’s websites.  Go to “Forms” to locate the entry blank.  For the current entry list and further information, log onto www.toledospeedway.com.
