ENTRY LIST GROWS FOR SATURDAY’S MORAN CHEVROLET/STAN YEE MEMORIAL
Flat Rock, Michigan--7-26-11: The field of entries is inching toward 30 cars for the Saturday, July 30 running of the 4th Annual Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 presented by CGS Imaging at Flat Rock Speedway. The event is leg number 3 of the 5 race Allegiant Gold Cup Series between Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways.
As of Tuesday night, a total of 27 cars are on the pre-entry list. Several more cars are expected after Wednesday night’s practice session at the ¼ mile paved oval, which will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The pit gate opens at 4. Defending Gold Cup Series champion and 150 race winner Mike Root, 3-time Flat Rock champion Eric Lee, defending track champ Paul Pelletier and Dennis Strickland, winner of the 100 lap Gold Cup race at Flat Rock in June, lead the parade of entries.
2-time Gold Cup champ Harold Fair Jr., 2010 Gold Cup runner-up Scott Hantz, fellow Indiana driver Brent Jack, Cocoa, FL resident Jared Allison, Michigan travelers Dakota Carlson and 2009 Yee Memorial winner Mike Luberda Jr., recent Owosso winner Jack Varney Jr. and the latest entry of Michael Simko will take on the Flat Rock regulars in what is shaping up to be a very tough field of entrants.
The event will pay $2533 to win and $533 to start, with drivers from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Canada expected. Several bonus awards, with a requirement to have a paid pre-entry to collect the awards could boost the winning driver’s payday over $3500. Moran Chevrolet will award a set of four (4) Hoosier Racing Tires to a driver in a random draw that will include race fans, former ARCA official Jack Wyman has posted a total of $500 to be split among the four drivers that travel from the greatest distance to compete in the 150, while Fastime Racing Engines and Parts will award $100 for the fast time. Lap money at $5 per lap will also be up for grabs.
The track’s Parts Galore Figure 8 and DTS Drive Train Specialists Street Stock classes will also be in competition, with feature events only for the July 30 race date.
The 2011 Indianapolis 500 Chevrolet Camaro convertible pace car replica courtesy of Moran Chevrolet will pace the field for the 150 lap contest. CGS Imaging, as part of their support of the race, has created a race logo and has decorated Flat Rock’s grandstand area with numerous banners and signage.
The pit area will open at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 30, with practice for the Late Models set to begin at 3. Time trials begin at 5 and racing starts at 7 p.m.
