Toledo Readies For 7-Up/PNC Bank Opener Friday Night; Race #1 Of Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer

(Toledo, Ohio - May 5, 2011) -  A variety of race cars tested at Toledo Speedway Wednesday night, prepping for Friday night’s 7 Up/PNC Bank Season Opener at the Glass City oval.  The event is also Race #1 in the 10-race Valvoline Instant Oil Change Summer Racing Series.

The on-track action will be provided by the ARCA ACME Dismantling Sportsman cars on the ½ mile, with the ARCA Parts Galore Figure 8’s, R & M Recycling Street Stocks and the Jeff’s Collision 4 Cylinders tackling the short track at the Toledo venue.

Friday night racing will continue at Toledo through September 2, with special events planned for several weekends during the 2011 season. 

The front gates open at 5, practice begins at 5, time trials are at 6 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m. for Friday night racing.

The first of the special events takes place next Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15 when the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards motors into town for the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care.  A variety of activities will take place at the track during the 3-day race weekend.

streetstock5511.jpgThe weekend kicks off Friday, May 13 with the Grogan’s Towne Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge Scout Night.  All scouts in uniform will be admitted FREE as guests of the speedway.  The winged Buckeye 305 Sprint Cars will visit Toledo, with the ARCA Sportsman and Street Stocks will also be on hand.  The annual Racer’s Reunion will also be held Friday night.

The annual ARCA “Fan Fest” will be set up in the track parking lot, and will include race car and vendor displays, along with many other activities.  The Fan Fest will run all 3 days, May 13-14-15.

Saturday’s schedule has practice and qualifying for the ARCA cars, along with a 50 lap ARCA Truck Series race.  Practice begins at 11:15 a.m. May 14, time trials are at 2:15 and the ARCA Truck race is at 5 p.m.  The Aaron’s “Welcome Race Fans Party” will be held in the Speedway Bar and Grille Saturday night, with food and drink specials and live music.

Sunday, May 15 is race day!  An on-track autograph session will take place at Noon, with the superspeedway-style stock cars of ARCA competing in a 200 lap feature race Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
