3rd Toledo Gold Cup Date Set for September 11; Championship Event for Series

(TOLEDO, Ohio 0 January 31, 2011):  Toledo Speedway officials have announced that the ARCA Late Model Gold Cup Series will stage their Championship event on Sunday afternoon, September 11 at the ½ mile paved oval.

The ARCA Street Stock and 4 Cylinder Championships will also be determined, and the ARCA Truck Series will also race on the September 11 card.  Race time is set for a 2 p.m. start.

The date marks the 5th and final Gold Cup Series event for the 2011 season.  The 5 race Series is comprised of 2 races at Flat Rock Speedway June 25 and July 30, while the 3 Toledo dates are July 8, August 12 and the just-announced September 11 event.  Grand Rapids, MI driver Mike Root captured the titles in both 2009 and 2010.

The original schedule listed the Street Stock and 4 Cylinder Championships for August 26.  Those 2 classes will still compete on that date, but will be weekly races, with their championships moving to September 11.

The 100 lap championship race will also serve as the final tune-up for the 23rd running of the Glass City 200, set for Saturday, October 1.

Track officials are in the process of putting together a special tribute to the memory of the 9-11 anniversary date.  More details will be announced as they are finalized.

With the September 11 date and the announcement several weeks ago of the April 23 JEG'S/CRA All Star Tour Late Model race (with the USA Modifieds), the 2011 Toledo schedule is now complete.
