Toledo Speedway

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 16, 2010) - Grand Rapids, Mich. ace Mike Root, the 2009 Flat Rock/Toledo ARCA Allegiant Air Gold Cup champion, is the latest entry for this Friday's 75-lap contest at Toledo Speedway. Root challenged Scott Hantz for the win in the first race of the season at Toledo in April, reeling in the leader and coming up just short of a victory. Miller Lite and Marco's Pizza will sponsor the night of racing at the Glass City oval.

Friday is also the date for the rescheduled Kid's Night, with all kids to age 14 admitted FREE!  Each child will also receive a FREE hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert's Snacks and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.

Entries from Steve Cronenwett Jr. and brothers Donald and Jason Burkhart of New Boston, MI have just been received, bringing the list to 23 cars as of Wednesday for the June 18 contest, which is leg number 2 of the 5 race series between the 2 tracks.  Leg number 3 is next Saturday, June 26 at Flat Rock Speedway for the running of the Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150.

Other entries for Toledo include Derek Griffin, the winner of the Stan Perry Memorial at Angola, IN last week, and 2009 CRA champion Johnny VanDoorn.  Scott Hantz, winner of the first Gold Cup race held at Toledo April 17, is also entered.  Former Flat Rock and Toledo champ Joe Hawes, Toledo Sportsman champ Howard Kelley Jr., Justin Schroeder, Steve Peters, 2003 Flat Rock champ Stan Yee Jr., rookie Nick Grodi, 2006 Flat Rock champ Paul Pelletier, 2007-2008 Gold Cup champ Harold Fair Jr., former Flat Rock and Toledo champ Dennis Strickland, second-generation driver Jack Varney Jr., Tom O'Leary IV, Jake Francis, Bill Litogot, Keith Nelson and 2002 Toledo champ Ron Allen have also filed entries for the event.

Friday, June 18 the pit area opens at 2:30 at Toledo, practice begins at 4:30, time trials are set for 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.
