Incredible Speeds, Incredible Tim Ice, Jason Blonde at Toledo's Fastest Short Track Show in World

(TOLEDO, Ohio - June 11, 2010) - The 2010 edition of the All American Coach/Qualite Sports Lighting Fastest Short Track Show in the World at Toledo Speedway once again lived up to its billing.  An unbelievable run by Derek Snyder in time trials lowered the track mark to 12:656 for the Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprints, while Charlie Schultz got into the 12 second bracket for the MSA/Oswego Winged Super Modifieds with a lap of 12:999.  But the loudest ovation of the night went to Tim Ice, the 2-time Toledo Late Model champ, as Ice scored his first-ever Super Modified victory Friday night.  Jason Blonde took the Sprint car main.  The evening included a 1 hour, 45 minute rain delay that began during the first heat race of the night.

"I can't believe it, I can't believe that it happened here at Toledo," exclaimed Ice in the Sunny D Winner's Circle, referring to his big win.  "I love this track and this means so much to me," added the Iceman.  Tom McGuire of All American Coach and Nick Page of Qualite presented the 5 foot trophy to Tim in post-race ceremonies.  Ice had a great battle with Gene Lee Gibson early on, finally getting to the top spot on lap 17.  2 red flags slowed things when Jack Smith and Talon Stephens tagged the wall in turn 2.  Both drivers were ok but the cars suffered major damage.  The race only went 1 more lap on the restart as fast qualifier Schultz and Trent Stephens tangled coming out of turn 4 on lap 17, stopping the race again.  Ice wasted no time as he zipped by Gibson on the restart and sailed out front.  A yellow flag with 2 laps to go bunched the field, but Ice pulled away on the way to his popular win.  Tim Jedrzejek, who pitted on the first red flag, was on the fly in the final laps, getting by teammate Mike Lichty on the final lap to grab second, with Lichty third, Brandon Fisher was fourth after a great run in the late stages, while Bobby Dawson was fifth.  Gibson, Trent Stephens, Kyle Edwards, Tim Paller and Lou Cicconi rounded out the top ten.  Gibson and Edwards won the heat races.

blondewintoledo10.jpgFormer track record holder Jason Blonde took command on lap 24, sailing by leader Dave Baumgartner to win the exciting 30 lap Auto Value/Bumper to Bumper Super Sprint main event.  Jason Goff was strong early on, but dropped out on lap 18 while Baumgartner was in charge.  Blonde was on the move and used lapped traffic to his advantage, taking the lead from Dave on lap 24 coming out of turn 3.  Jason took the checkered flag over a fast-closing Ryan Litt, Jimmy McCune, Eddie Kelly, Jeff Bloom, Jim Swain, Geoff Kaiser, Bill Tyler, Sondi Eden and Kevin Feeney.  Heat race wins went to McCune, Tyler and Litt.  In addition to Snyder's 12:656 lap, 3 others got into the 12's; Blonde at 12:802, Litt at 12:864 and Baumgartner as 12:869.  A lap 10 red flag slowed the feature when David Price II tagged the turn 4 wall and landed on his side in the front straight.  David was fine, but his car was not.

The Late Models return to Toledo Speedway next Friday for a 75 lap contest.  The ARCA Allegiant Air Late Models will compete in race number 2 of the Gold Cup Series for the June 18 event, sponsored by Miller Lite and Marco's Pizza.  The ARCA Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinders will also be in action.  It's also the rescheduled Kid's Night next Friday, with all kids to age 14 FREE with a paid adult.  Each child will also receive a FREE hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert's Chips and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.

The gates open at 5, time trials are at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.  The track is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border.
