Flat Rock Speedway Fundraiser Nets Nearly $1,000 for 2 Area Churches

(FLAT ROCK, Mich. - June 9, 2010):  The newly-created ticket fundraiser for non-profit groups for Flat Rock and Toledo Speedways has kicked off this season, with a pair of area church youth groups netting nearly $1000 total for their efforts.

The Rouge Freewill Baptist Church earned $649, while the Kirby Freewill Baptist Church near Flat Rock netted $308.  The Rouge group is led by Pastor Danny Slater, who is a weekly competitor in the ARCA Street Stock class at the speedway.  Both sold tickets for the May 22 race at Flat Rock Speedway.

These 2 groups are the first to take advantage of the offering by the 2 race tracks.  The Northwest Ohio Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization will be conducting a fundraiser for their group for an event at Toledo Speedway in July.

The program is very simple; tickets are $10 each for a selected night of racing.  For each ticket sold by a group, the speedway kicks back $2.50 per ticket.  IF that ticket is redeemed on that race night, the track adds another $2.50 bonus per ticket, which gives 50% back to the charity/non-profit program.

And if the group involves youths, those youths will be admitted FREE of charge on their selected race night.

"We are pleased to offer this program to any non-profit or charity in the area of the 2 tracks," stated Ron Drager, owner/promoter of both facilities.  "It gives us a chance to give back to the local communities and, at the same time, we hope to create some new race fans along the way."

To book your date for either track,  please call Scott Schultz, General Manager at 419-727-1100.
