Storms Miss Toledo-Froling Takes Wendy's Night Victory

TOLEDO, OH  (6-4-10) --  A great effort by the Toledo Speedway race teams kept the Wendy's Family Night and Autograph Night a happening for the fans that enjoyed meeting their favorite drivers and Wendy herself!  Jim Froling, Dennis Whisman, Cory McCaughey and Mike Marlow captured the feature race wins Friday evening.  They were greeted by Wendy in the Sunny D Winner's Circle.

The ARCA 35 lap Sportsman feature saw 2008 champ Jim Froling hold off the charge of 5-time division king Ron Allen to win the event.  Just 1 yellow flag slowed the action on the ½ mile when Art Rozane grenaded an engine on lap 8.  Froling and rookie Dave Arnold Jr. led the field to the green and ran side by side for the first 3 laps until Froling nosed out to take command and set sail.  Allen worked his way and got to Froling's back bumper by lap 20 and the duo ran away from the field.  whismanvltoledo060410.jpgJim kept the #46 out front to take his first win of the season over Allen, Arnold Jr., Kyle DeLisle, Kenny McKay Jr., Norm Lewallen, Tom Adams Jr., Chad Stilwell, Rich Abel and Andy Harding.  Allen set quick time at 17:499, with heat wins to Adams and Rozane.

3-time champ Dennis Whisman made it number 2 on the season as he slid to the win in the 20 lap ARCA Figure 8 feature race.  Jeremy Fragassi led the first lap until the red came out when Allen Bland Sr. and Stephanie Pankow got hooked together.  Whisman zipped by on the restart and cruised out front for the duration of the contest.  Another red appeared on lap 5 when Fragassi and Tom O'Leary Jr. crashed at the intersection.  Both drivers were fine.  Robbie Loving garnered second, Anthony Terris was third, James Rae fourth and Sam Hall fifth, followed by Bland Sr., AJ Padgett, Stephanie Bradley, Fragassi and Chuck Pankow.  mccaughyvltoledo10.jpgLoving and Terris claimed the heat race victories.

Toledoan Cory McCaughey notched win number 2 of the 2010 season by taking the checkered flag in the 20 lap ARCA Factory Stock feature.  Tim Shine led the first 8 laps in a fast and furious race that had action galore throughout the event.  Cory nosed in front on lap 10 with some nifty moves in traffic and stayed out front to take the win over Mike Hammer, 2-time champ Eric Huston, Landon Schuster, Rick Cousino Sr., James Hazlett, Shine, Ramon Ortiz, Craig Osenbaugh and Brian Ringger.  Schuster posted quick time at 11:815, with heat race wins to Huston, Osenbaugh and Ryan Beabout.

Great competition marked the 20 lap ARCA 4 Cylinder main event with Mike Marlow edging David Price, Perry Marlow and Brad Turner on his way to victory.  Matt Brazeau, David Katafiasz and Nick Walentowksi were next in line at the stripe.  marlowvltoledo10.jpgMike made it a double win night by taking the heat race also.  Turner set a new track record in time trials with a lap of 12:719.
