ARCA Late Models Prepare for Two Gold Cup Events June 18, June 26

TOLEDO, Ohio - May 25, 2010) - Race number 2 and 3 for the ARCA Allegiant Air Late Model Gold Cup Series are just weeks away, with Toledo Speedway the site of a 75 lap contest Friday, June 18 and Flat Rock Speedway hosting the prestigious Moran Chevrolet Stan Yee Memorial 150 Saturday, June 26.  The Gold Cup Series consists of 5 events between the 2 tracks. 

Scott Hantz, winner of the first Gold Cup race held at Toledo April 17, is entered for both events.  The Pleasant Lake, IN native has entered all 5 events and is shooting for the Gold Cup title in 2010.  Other drivers entered for the next 2 races on the Series include Justin Schroeder, Steve Peters, 2003 Flat Rock champ Stan Yee Jr., rookie Nick Grodi, 2006 Flat Rock champ Paul Pelletier, 2007-2008 Gold Cup champ Harold Fair Jr., former Flat Rock and Toledo champ Dennis Strickland, second-generation driver Jack Varney Jr. and former Flat Rock and Toledo titlist Ron Allen.

The Toledo contest is a 75 lap event on the lightning-fast ½ mile paved oval, while the June 26 Flat Rock event is 150 laps on the fast ¼ mile paved oval.  Both events are all-green flag contests. 

Flat Rock's Stan Yee Memorial 150 has become one of the top Late Model races in the area.  An incredible field of 42 machines turned out for last year's event, won by Mike Luberda of AuGres, MI as he topped Flat Rock champion Eric Lee by a car length at the stripe.  A large field of cars is expected again as the June 26 date nears.

"The Allegiant Air Gold Cup Series has gained notoriety the past few years," noted Scott Schultz, GM of the 2 tracks.  "We had 25 cars at the first Toledo race, and we expect around that number again for the June 18 event.  The Moran Chevrolet Stan Yee Memorial has really become a must-see for race fans," added Schultz.  "The competition has been great for all of these races.  We are expecting the entries to start arriving for both races next week."

The winner of the Flat Rock Yee Memorial race will take home $2533, and race $533 to start, in honor of Yee's famous #33 cars.  Additional bonus money will be available and will be announced when secured.  Entry blanks may be downloaded from the track's websites at FlatRockSpeedway.com and ToledoSpeedway.com. June 18 the pit area opens at 2:30 at Toledo, practice begins at 4:30, time trials are set for 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30 p.m.

Flat Rock's June 26 times will see the pits open at 1:30, practice at 3, time trials at 5 and racing at 7 p.m..
