DTS Adds $500 in Contingency Awards for Glass City 200

TOLEDO, OH: (9-29-09): Drive Train Specialists (DTS) of Warren, MI has bolstered their involvement with this Saturday's Glass City 200 Late Model invitational presented by AP Motorsports at Toledo Speedway by adding an extra $500 in certificates to their already-posted $300 in awards. DTS also is the sponsor of the last-chance race for the 21st running of the 200 lap classic at the ½ mile paved oval.

A total of five (5) drivers will be awarded $50 DTS labor/product certificates in the Late Model field at the driver's meeting October 3 in a random draw.  The 11th through 20th place finishers in the 200 lap event will also receive $50 certificates, along with the 30th place man in the 200 lap race.  DTS has been involved with Toledo's signature event for several years.

Additional contingency awards have been posted by Port City Racecars, which will award a $500 product certificate to the winner if using a Port City chassis and LV Alliance will give a $500 cash bonus to the fast qualifier.  Allegiant Air will give a pair of round-trip tickets from Toledo to Florida to the winner, while Burge Wrecking has posted a $250 cash bonus for the Most Improved Position Award.  The winner will also garner a $250 product certificate from Penske Shocks, while All Star Performance will give $100 certificates to the 6th and 12 place finishers.  Lane Automotive will give $100 certificates to the 5th and 10th place finishers. 

Lap money has also been secured as a bonus of $10 to the leader of each lap.  Several laps remain open for sponsorship and may be obtained by calling the track at 419-727-1100.  Lap money sponsors include Performance Images Photography, Jeff's Collision of Toledo, iHealth Products, Giles Auto Body, Real Canadian Bacon.com, Port City Racecars, Ziebart at Holland-Sylvania, Ray's Door of Toledo, Naughton Insurance, Comfort Inn North, Monroe Asphalt, Jim's Butcher Shop, Battery Exchange, Abe's Auto Parts, Northwood Villa, Jack's Garage, Gregg's Specialty Services, Teamsters Local 20 and Colin and Cailey Cooper. 

A total cash purse of over $60,000 has been posted for the event, which also includes the track's Sportsman and Speedway Tire and Auto Factory Stock divisions and the Michigan Legends Cars for the Saturday, October 3 race card.  The race will pay $5500 to the winner, with $1000 earmarked to start the 200 lap classic.  With special awards and lap money on the line, a driver could walk away with over $7500 for his efforts. 

The Sylvania-Jackman Auto Credit Center of Franklin Park will serve as the sponsor for the pre-race party, which will take place at the Speedway Bar and Grille following the Friday, October 2 practice session, which runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Each person purchasing a pit pass on Friday will receive a complimentary drink and snacks, courtesy of the Auto Credit Center, which is located at the corner of Sylvania and Jackman Roads in Toledo.  Food and drink specials will also be available. 

The pit area will open at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon for rig parking, tire sales, tech and practice.  Saturday, October 3 is race day!  The pits will open at 9:30 a.m., practice begins at noon, time trials are set for 3 and racing begins at a special time of 5 p.m.  A rain date of Sunday, October 4 at 1 p.m. has been established if needed.

In addition to AP Motorsports, race and award sponsors include Allegiant Air, the Hantz Group, Penske Racing Shocks, DTS-Drive Train Specialists, Sunoco/Bazell Race Fuels, Port City Racecars, LV Alliance, All Star Performance, Lane Automotive, Burge Wrecking, R & M Recycling, Kish Ambulance, Celebrations, the Sylvania-Jackman Auto Credit Center of Franklin Park and the Speedway Bar and Grille.  A drawing will be held for fans in attendance for two (2) round trip tickets from Toledo to Florida, courtesy of Allegiant Air.

The track will also recognize the past champions of the speedway and the Glass City 200 winners in pre-race ceremonies as part of the track's 50th anniversary celebration.
