DuPuis Closes Flat Rock Season with Win: Maran Enduro Champ
FLAT ROCK, MI: (9-26-09): A gloomy day burst into sunshine about 5 p.m., setting the stage for Flat Rock Speedway's final race of the season. Tristan Dupuis zipped to the victory in the 250 lap Enduro contest, while Mike Bershback won the 20 lap 4 Cylinder feature. Jeff Maran's fourth place finish secured the 2009 Flat Rock Enduro 4-race Series crown. A total of 38 cars took the Frankie Bockstanz Jr.'s green flag, and a quick pace ensued for the entire event.  Heavy traffic also was present for much of the 250 laps, which was slowed by 3 red flags.  2-time Enduro champ Michael Dailey took the lead on the start, with Danny Bennett roaring into the lead on lap 5.  Dave Arnold Jr. shadowed Bennett and grabbed the point on lap 31, only to have Tristan move by to take control on lap 38.  Zipping in and out of traffic, Dupuis tangled with a lapped car on lap 50, causing him to spin turn 2.  Dupuis quickly righted his machine and continued on, dropping back to 4th spot.  Bennett again took the number 1 spot, but Tristan closed in quickly and took control by lap 65 and never looked back.  Bennett pitted on lap 95 in a cloud of smoke, ending his fine run.  Jeff Metdepenningen, who ran in the top 3 for much of the race, got to second spot but went a lap down later in the race.  He regained that lap at the lap 145 mark, but Dupuis motored by several laps later and kept Jeff down 1 circuit the remainder of the way.  Tristan's win was worth $1000 for his efforts.  Metdepenningen was second, Bob Hochradel had a great run to take third, Jeff Maran was fourth and Robb Remick to fifth after running in the top 3 for much of the event.  Rick Johnson, Matt Ringger, Brian Ringger, Bob Swanson and Tom LaFollette completed the top ten.  21 cars were running at the finish.

Maran grabbed the 2009 Flat Rock Enduro crown.  Jeff, a former Toledo Factory Stock champion, topped Jeff Metdeppeningen for the title, with Rick Johnson third.  The final point standings will be posted this week at http://www.flatrockspeedway.com/

4cylno77berschback.jpgMike Bershback, returning to the driver's seat after sitting out much of the season, topped Brad Turner in a 2-car battle to the wire to win the 20 lap 4 Cylinder feature race.  Turner took over second from David Price on early on and set the stage for the duo.  Turner, the 2009 division champ, looked high and low but to no avail as Bershback took the win over Turner, Price, Dave Stadniczuk and Scott Mathews.
