Rain Ruins Toledo Championships: RE/MAX Series 200 September 4

TOLEDO, OH: (8-29-09): Heavy morning rains, followed by showers in the afternoon and the forecast for more of the same put the stop to Toledo Speedway's All Sport Season Championship race for the ARCA Sportsman, Factory Stocks and Figure 8's Friday evening. The event will not be rescheduled.

The track suffered its first washout since June 19.  Fans and racers sat through 3 events this season that were delayed, but each of those programs was completed.  With the points now final, the 2009 track champions are:  Terry Jones (Sportsman); Robbie Loving (Figure 8) and Eric Huston (Speedway Tire and Auto Factory Stock).  Mike Root captured the ARCA Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Gold Cup Late Model title a few weeks ago, which consisted of 5 events between Toledo and its sister track, Flat Rock Speedway.

The ARCA RE/MAX Series will make its second trip to Toledo Friday evening, September 4 for a 200 lap contest, presented by Belle Tire.  NASCAR driver Ken Schrader, 9-time ARCA champion Frank Kimmel, and the top 2 point men, Parker Kligerman and Justin Lofton, will lead the field of over 30 cars entered for the event.

The University of Toledo Marching Band will highlight the pre-race festivities, beginning at 8 p.m.  The schedule for the day includes practice at 2, time trials at 5, an on-track autograph session at 6:45, the pre-race show at 8 and the 200 lap race at 8:30 p.m.

The New Glass Bowl Lanes will host a benefit bowling tournament Thursday evening, September 3, from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.  The cost is just $10 per bowler and will benefit ARCA Chaplain Bill Krick and his Focus Motorsports Ministries.  A raffle will also be held, featuring various racing items.  Fans will get the chance to bowl with ARCA RE/MAX Series drivers and team members at the Glass Bowl Lanes, which is located just 3 miles from Toledo Speedway.

Reserved seat tickets are now on sale and can be obtained by calling the track at 419-727-1100.  VISA and Mastercard are accepted for phone orders.  Toledo Speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border.

After the September 4 event, the track has 3 more events left on its 2009 calendar; the Wendy's Night of Destruction Friday, September 18, featuring the School Bus Figure 8 races; the 21st running of the Glass City 200 Late Model invitational Saturday, October 3; and the first-ever 100 lap Enduro Saturday, October 17, using parts of the ½ mile, ¼ mile and pit road.
