Lots of Racing Still Left at Flat Rock; 100 Lap Street Stock, 50 Lap Figure 8 This Saturday

FLAT ROCK, MI: (8-19-09): With just 3 point races left in the 2009 season, the action is sure to heat up at Flat Rock Speedway. It picks up again this Saturday, August 22 with the 100 lap Street Stock race and a 50 lap Figure 8 main topping the slate, goes to August 29 with the return of the Late Models to the mix and culminates with the Season Championships September 5, complete with a Fireworks show!

Stoney Creek Auto Parts and the Monroe Evening News have teamed up for Kid's Night August 22.  All kids to age 14 will be admitted FREE and receive a FREE hot dog, chips and drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert's Snacks and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group.  The ARCA Street Stocks will stage their 100 lap main event, the biggest race for their year this Saturday (rained out Aug. 8). The Street Stock B main goes 35 laps, with a 50 lap Figure 8 feature, the Michigan Legends and a Rollover contest also on the race card. 

Saturday, August 29 is Glass Unlimited Night at Flat Rock.  The ARCA Moran Chevrolet/Miller Lite Late Models return for a full show, and will be joined by the Figure 8's and Street Stocks.  The ARCA 4 Cylinder division will contest their Season Championship event.

SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS, FIREWORKS, MICHIGAN VIETNAM MEMORIAL SEPT. 5

 

It all comes down to Saturday, September 5 for the Flat Rock race teams as the Diamond Racing Products Season Championship races will decide the 2009 track titles.  New to the mix this year is inversions for the Championship events, which is how feature races are set up each week.  The Late Models, Figure 8's and Street Stock A and B Main crowns will be determined September 5.  To cap the night off, a FIREWORKS show will take place on the track! 

The speedway is also proud to announce the appearance of the Michigan Vietnam Memorial, which will be on display September 5 in the spectator concourse.  The memorial is a 25 feet long "wall" that contains the names of the 2654 men and 1 woman who lost their lives in this war.  The Michigan Medal of Honor will also be on display.  Military merchandise will be on sale and a donation box will also be set up, which keeps the mobile Memorial unit in operation from venue to venue.  The display was set up at the annual Coast Guard Festival in Grand Haven, MI recently for 10 days. 

Race time for each of the Saturday night shows is 7 p.m.  The track's 2 final events are the Grillers Select BBQ Sauce School Bus Figure 8 race September 12 and after a week off, the race season concludes with an Enduro 250 and the 4 Cylinders September 26.
