Toledo Gold Cup Rescheduled for July 31; Sets up 3 Gold Cup Races in Three Weeks

TOLEDO, OH: (7-8-09): Track officials have announced that the June 19 ARCA Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Late Model Gold Cup date that was rained out June 19 has been reset for Friday, July 31 at Toledo Speedway.

The CRA Late Model 100 originally scheduled for this date has been moved to Friday, August 14.  NASCAR star Kyle Busch will compete in the CRA event August 14 at Toledo.

The Gold Cup Series Late Models will compete in a 75 lap contest, which will be the final point race for the 5-race Series in 2009. With the reset date, the Hantz Group/Allegiant Air Gold Cup Series will now have 3 races in 3 weekends.  The 5-race series, featuring 2 races at Flat Rock and 3 at Toledo, will culminate with the July 31 event at the Glass City oval.  Leg number 3 is set for Friday, July 17 at Toledo for the Marco's Pizza/Teamsters Local 20 Night, with a 75 lap feature; round 4 goes the following Saturday, July 25 at Flat Rock for the All Sport 100 lap main and the series concludes at Toledo for the July 31 makeup 75 lap event. 

July 31 is also Kid's Night at Toledo, with all children to age 14 admitted FREE.  Each child will also receive a FREE hot dog, chips and a drink, courtesy of Sherwood Foods, Seyfert's Snacks and the Dr. Pepper/Snapple Group of Toledo.  Parents are asked to pick up a ticket at the ticket office for each child on race night.

Scott Hantz won the opening round 100 lap event at Toledo May 22 and Mike Luberda Jr. took the 150 lap race at Flat Rock June 27.  A total of 27 entries were on hand at Toledo for the first race, with 42 cars jamming the pits at Flat Rock. 

The ARCA Figure 8 class has been added to the July 31 race card.  The Speedway Tire and Auto Factory Stocks and 4 Cylinders will also be in action July 31 at Toledo.
