Late Model 150 a Long-established Tradition at Flat Rock Speedway

Saturday's Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 marks just the second year that Flat Rock Speedway's longest Late Model race of the season has been held in memory of Stan Yee, who found success as a car owner and builder for nearly five decades before passing away in 2008. However, the history of weekly Late Model Racing at Flat Rock Speedway dates back to 1962 and this weekend's Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 marks the 14th consecutive season in which the track has contested a 150-lap Late Model feature.

Last year, Canton, Michigan's Justin Schroeder won the inaugural Stan Yee Memorial, easily the biggest feature win the 23-year-old's career. Schroeder will defend his title on Saturday and is joined on the entry list by four drivers who have previously won 150-lap Late Model Features at Flat Rock Speedway, including Eric Lee (2007, '04), Paul Pelletier ('06), Harold Fair Jr (‘05) and Dave Kuhlman '03, '02, '01).

Numerous Legends of ARCA Late Model Racing are expected to attend Saturday's race, including Danny Byrd, Joy Fair, Harold Cook, Artie Summers and Chuck Roumell. Many of those drivers, plus Steve Lee and Stan Yee Jr, formerly drove the trademark yellow No. 33 Chinese Chariots made famous by car owner Stan Yee Sr for whom the memorial race is named.

One of Yee's former drivers, Joe Ruttman, will compete as a teammate to Stan Yee Jr. this Saturday night.   The track's Figure 8 and Street Stock divisions will also be in competition.

All tickets for the event are general admission and are available beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27.  The pit area opens at 1, practice begins at 3, time trials are set for 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
