Four-time Champ Kuhlman, Root Enter Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150: Entry List Jumps to 37
FLAT ROCK, MI: (6-24-09): A total of 29 Late Models practiced at Flat Rock Speedway Wednesday evening in preparation for the prestigious Moran Chevrolet/Stan Yee Memorial 150 Saturday night, June 27. The list now stands at 37 pre-entries, with the additions led by 4-time Flat Rock champ Dave Kuhlman. Grand Rapids-area hotshoe Mike Root has also filed his entry for the biggest race of the season at the ¼ mile paved oval.
Kuhlman's work schedule over the past few years has limited his racing schedule. The Howell, MI resident is in town this weekend and will make the trip to Flat Rock, a track he dominated in the 1980's, taking the track crowns in 1983, 1986, 1987 and 1988. Dave ranks only behind legendary Joy Fair in Flat Rock victories with 40 to his credit.The 150 lap contest has been an outstanding race for many years, and is beginning to draw interest from outside Southeastern Michigan. That fact is accentuated with the entry of Mike Root. Root was present last season at Flat Rock for the 150 until the rain moved the date and Mike could not return. He was very impressive in practice last year and has had a great start to 2009 around the Michigan tracks.
All tickets for the event are general admission and are available beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 27. The pit area opens at 1, practice begins at 3, time trials are set for 5 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
