Trackside Tidbits by Debi Domby

Two weeks to talk about in this article.

Rob Moore both of the A division Street Stock features ... on June 6 and June 14. "That was a wild race... wilder than I've been involved in a while. I want to thank my sponsor MAACO, my dad and family and Amy, Dow Engines and the pit crew," the Southgate, Mich., driver said after the June 20 win.

Let's welcome back two drivers to the street stock ranks ... Chad Guinn and Dennis Strickland.

Chad takes over the Bill Meade owned ride vacated by Regan Ford. His first night out he finished second, this week he finished fourth. The night did not start out well this past race, first a slipping clutch had to be fixed and then he missed his heat while the team worked on the carburetor.

Dennis takes over the controls of Dan Slater's #3 for the remainder of the season. Slater had to give up the driver's seat because a medical issue. Dennis has finished seventh and third.

Darrell Krause's first A main didn't turn out as well as he hoped, dropping out a couple laps from the end. I think it might have been James Pankow's first A main also... he finished 18th.

Strangely, the Street Stock B division had the same winner both weeks also, Jimmy Rae. "Always have a good race with Rich (Abel). I love to race with him, because he always runs you hard but clean. Knew it would get tight with the lapped traffic there at the end. I just picked a line and stayed there. I want to thank my family," said Rae after his win Saturday night.

The June 6th race, Rayce Metdepenningen finished second in the feature. I'm pretty sure that's his career best B main finish.

Billy Earley won the 50-lap Figure 8 feature on June 6, his second win of the season and ninth of his career at Flat Rock. "I want to thank Rob Martell and Robbie Loving. Rob (Martell) called me mid week and asked if I wanted to run the backup car. I had engine problems the weekend before so I was very happy to have a car to race," said Earley.  The car is sponsored by RJS Racing, Blossom Florist, Beaver Creek Resort.

Jeremy Miller's victory this week was his third of the season and 36th at Flat Rock. "I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart to Gary Cronenwett for spinning him at the beginning of the race. I don't like to race that way. I want to thank my wife for letting me work in the garage the last two weeks. This is a new car. I also want to thank Jeremy Vanderhoof for helping me finish the car. Also Miller Built Racecars and Marathon Pipe," said Miller.

Brad Turner won the 4-cylinders the week of June 6 and finished second this week.

Shawn Berschback won the June 20 race. "Had a great time tonight. My wife came for the first time tonight... great to bring home the win. Brad's always tough," said the driver of the #27.

"We hung tough tonight... thanks to my family, friends and the fans," said second place finisher Brad Turner.

The best race of the night had to be for third between Perry Marlowe and Matt Brazeau. The pair ran at least 2/3 of the race side by side. Lapped traffic in the last few laps broke up the duo's terrific battle. Marlowe took home third, Brazeau fourth. "That's the first time I've ever placed (in the top 3). Thank the fans and my family."
